Ophelia tightened her hold on his wrist, glancing at him with startled eyes. He gave her a deranged amount of attention. His hold on her chin at that moment, those eyes, that smile… She had chills, and despite the fact that his claws were progressively penetrating her skin, she was powerless to avert her eyes from his terrifying gaze.
She was more than taken aback by his statements. “C… connection?
Forbidden mate?”
“Darling, I don’t like your perplexed expression.” Nikolai hissed, pursing his lips then slowly released her chin, and curled his finger beneath it to lift her
head.
She gasped. He smirked.
“Your eyes… You saw me didn’t you?”
Ophelia swallowed, not letting go of his wrist. “What’s happening?”
He leaned in close and whispered, “That’s a yes darling,” and ran his finger over the side of her neck and down her chin. “Did you feel it?”
Ophelia’s body tensed and flared simultaneously. She gasped in response to his touch and answered, “Yes.”
“I felt it too and I summoned you here. We can combine our individual strengths with one another’s.”
“What?” Ophelia was even more confused.
Yes, she had seen Nikolai in the shadows of her eyes and she had also seen
the mist. His mist.
She gasped in realization. “You summoned me here?”
“I did. Although impossible, I did.”

“What… What… I don’t understand..”
“Look into my eyes.” Nikolai whispered, peering at her intensely.
Ophelia blinked and continued to stare at him until she noticed a reflection of her own eyes in his thick, black, demon-like eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat when she noticed that her once-gold eyes had
turned scarlet. “What the…”
Nikolai smirked. “Turns out the connection is that deep.”
“Wait!” Ophelia shouted and pushed herself forward to look at his back. Her mouth dropped open as she noticed that those eyes, which were supposed to be golden, were actually scarlet.
Nikolai questioned, “Same thing?”
“Yes.” Ophelia gave a hesitant nod and, this time, sat motionless on the ground.
Was it a good or bad thing, especially knowing Nikolai, if she and Nikolai could utilize their might and combine it to their own will. He was, after all, the villain of her tale. Did she even genuinely believe that?
“Does this sound favorable? I believe there is more to this…. I think this is dangerous.” Ophelia expressed her worries to Nikolai, who was gazing at her like a treasure that had just been discovered.
“It is.”
She felt uneasy due to the intimidating tone and delivery of those two words. She couldn’t help but wonder why in the world she had fallen in love with a being that primarily used cunning reasoning. Was she under a spell?
“It isn’t,” She scowled.
“To me, it means that if I’m away or in danger, I can call for you. You can protect me in that way.”

Ophelia regarded him intently as she pondered whether he was really thinking about that. This bond they had was… Dark. If she were able to control Nikolai’s demonic powers and Nikolai was able to control her golden fire… A demon lycan wielding golden fire and a golden dragon wielding demonic powers.
She pursed her lips, keeping an anxious gaze on Nikolai. “Nikolai, I believe this is a solid justification for keeping our distance from one another.”
Nikolai lost his smile and replaced it with shock, “What?! Do you intend to
leave me?”
“No no. I mean, this is the reason why we should wait until tomorrow to be together. This kind of connection is wholly detrimental.” Ophelia spoke carefully in an attempt to help him comprehend, but the look on his face persisted.
“Are you doubting my intentions?”
She replied promptly, “Yes.”
Nikolai’s smirk returned. Devious and cunning. He put his palm softly on her cheek and said, “I adore how straightforward you are, darling.”
Ophelia called, “Nikolai,” with a sigh of frustration.
“Nothing I do will harm you in any way. You need not be concerned,”
“Do you have to make me feel uneasy all the time?” She questioned aggravatedly.
“I can make you feel other things, like…”
Ophelia sighed, placing her finger over lips, making him halt his words. “Please don’t.”
His voice alone caused her body to heat up, the sight of his immaculately toned upper body made her feel even hotter, and for obvious reasons, she

found herself automatically focusing on him. Even though he appeared to be rough-hewn, he had the ideal sculpt of a god of seduction.
She took a deep breath, grabbed her lips between her teeth, and turned to look directly into his eyes.
As they continued to look at one other unwaveringly, a mysterious dark mist suddenly started to drip out of Nikolai and swirl ominously about them both. There was a growing sense of tension between them as that strange energy started to surge into them, connecting in an utterly mysterious way.
Realizing that her desire towards him was growing, Ophelia succeeded in averting her glance from Nikolai. “I should leave,” She felt her fingers tremble as she uttered softly.
Nikolai immediately placed his palm on her second cheek, bringing her gaze back to him. “Do we really need to wait until the wedding night?” He asked, his voice was low, deep, and rife with hunger
Slowly, Ophelia parted her lips in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the smoldering need that filled his eyes. “I’m not certain,” She muttered, resting her hands on his broad, naked shoulders.
As the mist swirling around them both grew denser, Ophelia eventually discovered herself slowly pushing Nikolai back, forcing him to rest his back on the bare dungeon floor. Her hair fell at the sides of his face as she leaned in, her ruby eyes blazing with fierce need.
Nikolai held his breath, letting out a long groan as her body crushed against his, and then grinned cunningly at her. “What do you think you’re doing,
