105 Fun of the moon festival (2)

Ophelia caught her breath when she unexpectedly materialized on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in the imperial metropolis. She gazed at his face, holding onto his cloak. His eyes were hard and frigid and like his face, the smile that danced on his lips was incredibly flimsy and cold. She sighed and took in the stunning winter view of the vast city.

The large number of people going through the streets, the carriages moving from one direction to another, the stalls and shops that sold every need and

want.

It was impossible to escape the music and laughter, and the festive scent permeated the brisk air that swirled about them.

Nikolai was staring at her with a focused gaze as she smiled and turned to face him. His smile was more loose and his gaze was softer than it was a few minutes earlier. Unpredictable. What was going through his head? Aside from the blood pearl, what else was bothering him?

“You fret too much.” Nikolai remarked.

“Let’s go take part in the celebrations.” Ophelia told him with a smile.

Nikolai nodded and they vanished, materializing in an alleyway. He removed his hold on her waist, held her hand and they emerged on the street.

Shock and perplexity filled the eyes that met them. They could tell from his aura and fragrance that he was Celestia’s Alpha heir, and they could tell from her scent that she was a dragoness.

Nikolai and Ophelia ignored the onlookers and moved to the center of the celebrations.

There were lodgings for those who had traveled to the city for the celebration and the coronation, as well as a sizable ground that was

crowded with people. Many of the attendees were dressed in costumes for plays that were scheduled to be performed that day, and the event had many big rides that added excitement.

Nikolai gave an intense look. He resisted rolling his eyes at the people’s smiles. He had never participated in the festivities. Nikolai was routinely imprisoned or given over to Tiana, who perpetually pretended to be a heroine, as Vladmir had stated.

Sighing, he looked at Ophelia, who was observing the event with a bright smile on her face. Her obvious excitement caused his eyebrows to lift in

surprise as his heart began to race.

Thump. Thump, Thump.

He blinked before resting his hand on his chest. “Why do you seem so

enthusiastic about this?”

Ophelia continued to smile as she turned to face him. “It is unlike anything I have ever seen. I actually anticipated that only the nighttime hours would be this exciting.”

“Well, it’s only the beginning and there’s so little. It’s at night when the real festivities happen.”

“Really?” Ophelia’s eyes grew wider.

“What do you want to do first?” Nikolai enquired, a warm smile adorning his lips as a result of the smile that lit up her lovely face.

“The game of the glass!” Ophelia pointed enthusiastically at a stall where a couple was already having fun.

“Huh?” Dryly, Nikolai asked. “That’s a complete waste of time.”

“You have no idea what the purpose of the game is.” Ophelia guffawed.

“1…”

Before he could finish, Ophelia yanked him over to the stall.

Upon sensing Nikolai’s sinister presence, the pair made an uneasy exit.

“Your highness.” Nikolai stared blankly at the astonished stall owner as he was respectfully bowed to by the stall owner.

At the extreme rear of the stall, there were enormous bottles placed in a curved design beneath smaller bottles that were likewise arranged in a curved pattern. There was a tiny box with six different colored marbles in front of Nikolai and Ophelia.

“Do we have to use six marbles to smash all those bottles?” Nikolai

questioned with a sneer of incredulity.

“Yes.” Ophelia responded, grabbing a marble.

“How lame.” Nikolai tsked, crossing his arms over his chest.

Ophelia hurled the marble at one of the bottles, but instead of slamming into it, it just made slight contact with it, creating an impact similar to that of a piece of paper being thrown at a piece of glass, before falling to the ground.

“Huh?!” Ophelia was shocked.

Nikolai’s lips twitched and his eyes shifted to the stall owner who was trying to avert his eyes.

“I’ll try once more.” Ophelia said, hurling another marble at the bottle with all of her might. The impact was weaker than the initial toss, despite the strength being intended to produce a strong impact that would affect the other bottles.

“HUH?!” Ophelia gasped in bewilderment. “What’s happening?”

She chose two more marbles and threw them, but none of the bottles

received even a minor scratch.

“Foul play for the sake of gain?” Nikolai inquired as he shot the stall owner with a chilling, lethal’stare.

The stall owner shuddered in terror. “N… No, Your Highness.”

Ophelia gave Nikolai an expression of shock before turning to the stall

owner.

“Shall I try, darling?” Nikolai asked, reaching out his hand and Ophelia cautiously placed the final two marbles on his huge hand.

Nikolai grabbed his hand with a firm grip right away. “Foul play just for a few bronze pieces?” He asked with a deep growl of displeasure.

“N.. no!” The stall owner quavered, staring at Nikolai with wide eyes, wondering what Nikolai was going to do. He had no idea what was going on, but he knew it wasn’t going to be good.

“Nikolai?” Ophelia called slowly.

Dark mist engulfed Nikolai’s clenched fist, and as soon as he let go, all of the bottles in the room spontaneously smashed into pieces.

The stall owner appeared weak, Ophelia gasped, and Nikolai casually re-arranged the remaining marbles in the box.
