Ophelia barely responded to what Viktor had said. Although she wasn’t entirely surprised, she was nevertheless stunned. Why would Nikolai want the pearl used to control and manipulate his mind to be stolen?

She had to find him.

“There’s more to the blood pearl, right?” Viktor asked, his face placid but his voice full of anticipation.

Ophelia nodded but kept quiet, realizing that Viktor was unaware of the pearl’s history.

The moment he realized she was aware but didn’t want to tell him, he groaned and put his hands in his pants pocket. “Nikolai used to perform pranks on us when he was young, and he did it at least three times a month when he was in good mental health. He would go to each of us and pull pranks on us, and we would all end up playing together. After those three days, Nikolai would awaken crying and declare that he was being chased and that we should save him from whatever was chasing him. He constantly appeared to be in great fear, but I always assumed that he was suffering from a mental illness. As a result, I always went to Alpha, who would either beat him until he passed out or lock him in the dungeon.”

At his comments, Ophelia took a deep breath. “Why are you telling me this?”

“We neglected Nikolai… I am beginning to realize.” Viktor’s voice faltered, and he bowed his head, heaving a guilty sigh. “He was always being chased by something, wasn’t he?”

“Why not find out yourself or ask Nikolai if you want to know? You were ignorant, Viktor, not blind to what was happening. You Novikovs were all ignorant to Nikolai.” Ophelia said in a stern way then took a step away from Viktor but he unexpectedly stopped her by grasping her wrist.

“She was silent for a moment, but then she started sniffing, and suddenly wham! She started to gaze ominously at Lev, and then just as she turned to come at him, Vladmir stopped her in her tracks.” Esmeralda continued to look at Sasha and Vladmir while she spoke in a fairly dramatic manner.

“Huh?” Ophelia parted her lips in surprise.

“No sis, you are going to hurt him.” Vladmir grunted out, holding her tightly.

Ophelia’s eyes widened and she slowly turned her gaze to see Lev staring at Sasha with worry rather than shock.

Yulia who was watching this was fiddling with an empty glass between her fingers. “Is it what I think it is?” She asked curiously and looked at Pavel who looked like he had seen a ghost. She smiled, nodding slowly and turned her gaze back to the scene. “It is.”

“Why is she suddenly acting like that?” Danil asked Boris, who was frozen in

shock.

“I don’t want to say it but she wouldn’t even act like that if he was a random male.” Boris stiffly replied.

Vladmir instantly hit Sasha in the stomach with her elbow, but instead of letting her go, he yelled in agony, his eyes changing into a wolf-like blue color, and he seized her arms from behind.
