Chapter 80
“It’s never ending with this fucking pack,” she cries before storming out.
Everyone follows her out. Only Cole and I are left.
“So not only did you completely ignore her for that evil bitch you called a daughter while she suffered at her hands, but you also kept a sister from her who could have made her feel less alone. You’re lucky she’s your family because if it were up to me, I’d destroy this entire fucking pack,” he growls before leaving to find his mate.
I can’t even move. “What the fuck just happened?” I say.
“It seems your family secrets are being revealed,” Richard says.
Cole POV
I head outside to find my mate, and what I find surprises me.
“What did I miss?” I say, walking up to my smiling mate.
“My parents are shit heads,” she says, shrugging, like she’s forcing it to sound lighter than it actually is.
“Are we not mad?” I ask.
“Oh, I am furious with them, but it is me and my sister’s birthday, and I will not have it ruined,” she replies, and I can hear the control in it, the way she’s choosing not to spiral.
“And that cheeky little goddess of ours knew, which is why Iris was Elias’s second chance mate,” she adds, rolling her eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay, my love?” I link her.
“Yes, my king, I am sure. I’m just disappointed in my parents,” she links back, but the emotion under it doesn’t fully settle.
“I wonder if your gamma’s mate is related to me somehow. It seems to be a pattern,” she muses.
“So Iris, where have you been?” Winter asks.
“I’ve been living with my grandparents in the White River Pack,” she says.
“That’s mom’s home pack,” Lyric growls. “I always wondered why we never visited. They always came here, even if I asked to go. They always went alone,” Lyric adds.
“Did you know who I was?” Lyric asks Iris.
“Yes, but mom said I couldn’t tell you because we needed to stay safe and separate until we found our mates,” Iris explains.

Chapter 80
“In the car?” she asks, voice cracking,
“I’m sorry, Lyric. I didn’t know how to tell you. Even when I came downstairs and saw you, I thought you would figure it out when
you saw me,” Iris says.
“I honestly thought it was just a coincidence that we looked so much alike. I didn’t even look like the girl I thought was my twin. So I just found it ironic that we look so much alike and are mated to brothers,” Lyric reflects.
“Can we swim now? I need a complete reset on the day because it’s been way too much,” Lyric asks.
“How about we all meet back here in two hours? That gives the newly found mates some alone time and allows me to get my mate back in good spirits before we go swimming and before the run,” I suggest.
“Sounds like a good idea,” Mason agrees.
As we all walk back to the pack house, Mason stops by Lyric.
“You good, Sunny?” he asks.
“Just peachy, Mase. Go enjoy your mate. See you guys later. Aria, if you need a swimsuit, there are extras in the changing room,” she
says before turning to me.
The look on her face says everything, and this time I don’t ignore it, don’t pretend she’s fine just because she’s smiling.
I scoop her into my arms and carry her to my room on the guest floor.
When we get inside, she instantly breaks down, like the second the door closes she doesn’t have to hold it together anymore. I just hold her until she finishes.
“Talk to me, my love,” I say.
“Today has just been a lot. I’m so overwhelmed with all of it,” she says.
“I had to kill my sister today, only to find out I had another sister just two hours away. It felt like something was missing, and I always thought it was because I felt so disconnected from Summer, but it was so much more than that,” she says.
“I killed her sister and she never even met her,” she adds, tears falling freely.
“You did her a favor, and Summer was never a sister to you, princess. She was a burden and a jealous hater,” I say, wiping her tears, making sure she actually looks at me when I say it.
“I know that once Elias tells her who Summer was, she will not feel any way towards you for that,” I reassure her.
