The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 308

Nora lowered her eyelashes, masking the complicated emotions surging in her eyes.

She gently pressed her pale, bloodless lips against the unbandaged right side of Gideon's cheek.

Staring at his tightly closed eyes, she remembered how he had looked yesterday in that dust-filled factory—his face covered in blood, yet using both arms to hold her in a death grip, telling her not to be afraid.

The sorrow Nora had been desperately holding back finally broke the dam.

A scalding tear slipped past her lashes and fell straight down, landing perfectly on Gideon's pale cheek.

The moment the warm tear touched his skin, it shattered into tiny droplets, sliding slowly down the contours of his face and seeping into the snow-white pillow, leaving a faint wet trail.

Nora straightened up and slowly opened her eyes. She raised the back of her hand and hurriedly scrubbed the tear tracks from her own face.

"Wake up soon."

Nora whispered, her voice so low only she could hear it.

"Wake up and get better. Then we can finally be even."

She straightened her spine, took a deep breath, and shoved every chaotic emotion back down into her chest.

She reached out and carefully wiped away the warm tear she had dropped on Gideon's skin, leaving no trace behind.

Having done that, she turned around, tugged at her slightly oversized casual clothes, and prepared to slip quietly out of the suffocating VIP suite before the bodyguards returned.

However, just as her fingers wrapped around the door handle, before she could even push it open, the heavy wooden door was violently shoved inward from the outside.

Bang!
