The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 309

"Let go."

A trace of exhaustion finally bled into Nora's voice as she reached out to pry Giselle's fingers off her collar.

"I told you, I'm leaving. Once Gideon is completely out of danger, I'll do exactly what you want and disappear from the Hayes family forever. Now let go of me."

"Don't you dare order me around with that condescending tone! What gives you the right, Nora?! You only got this far because Silas lost his mind and..."

"Giselle..."

An incredibly weak, gravelly male voice suddenly drifted over from the direction of the hospital bed.

Both Nora and Giselle froze instantly, their bodies locking in place.

The strength vanished completely from Giselle's fingers. Even her movement to turn her head seemed comically slow as she stared blankly at the bed.

Gideon had regained consciousness at some point. His face, usually so cold and radiating absolute authority, was still as pale as paper, a fine layer of cold sweat coating his forehead.

"Giselle..."

He called out again, his voice slightly clearer than before.

"Gideon!"

Giselle snapped out of her daze. Forgetting all about shoving Nora, she recklessly threw herself at the bedside. With trembling hands, she grabbed Gideon's exposed hand and burst into loud sobs.

"You're awake! It's me, Giselle! Look at me!"

Over Giselle's hysterical crying, Gideon's eyelids fluttered violently as he fought with every ounce of his strength to break through the darkness dragging him under.

Finally, those deep, icy black eyes slowly opened, pulling into focus under the morning light.

The moment Giselle saw Gideon open his eyes, the tears in her eyes overflowed like a broken dam.
