"Yeah," Nora nodded. "I was just thinking... Parker has changed so much."

Maloney paused for a second. "Having a child tends to force a man to mature."

"Does it?"

"It does," Maloney said. "Once a man has a child, he steps into the role of a father. If he shows absolutely no growth or change, it just means he's inherently devoid of any sense of responsibility."

Nora puffed her cheeks out slightly. "But when Cass was pregnant, he wasn't mature at all. He just constantly pissed her off."

"Maybe it didn't feel real to him until the baby was born. The shift in mindset only happens after."
