Seraphina's grip on Nora's shoulder slowly tightened. There was a chilling, absolute insanity burning in her narrowed eyes. "If you want Bella dead, I can arrange that too."

Her words were a literal bombshell.

Nora stared at Seraphina in pure horror.

Cassidy, still sitting in the middle, was staring blindly at the video playing on the phone.

Her face mirrored Nora's disbelief. "Wasn't Bella in custody? How did you even get to her?"

"I didn't get her out. She was pregnant, remember? Pregnant women don't sit in jail cells, so they placed her in a secure hospital." A mocking, vicious sneer pulled at Seraphina's lips. "She thought she was so clever. Her baby came at the perfect time. Ironically, I agreed. If she had been locked in a maximum-security prison, getting to her would have been annoying."

Cassidy still couldn't wrap her head around it. "Were there no guards at the hospital?"

"Of course there were." Seraphina shot Cassidy a look of pure disdain. "Have you never heard of bribery?"

She was openly confessing to multiple felonies in broad daylight.

"Do you think it's difficult?" She scoffed, clearly insulted by their shock.

"Hospitals use full-time staff and contractors. Buying off a licensed doctor is hard, but paying off the hospital temps?"

Cassidy opened her mouth to argue, but Seraphina raised her voice, cutting her off. "Don't underestimate the temps. They do all the grunt work and cover the graveyard shifts. I just paid one to make sure Bella 'accidentally' slipped and took a nasty fall in the middle of the night. How hard is that?"

"And even if he botched the job and got caught, he'd serve a few years, and I'd wire him millions of dollars. Do you really think I'd ever run out of people willing to bleed for me?"

"Do you two have any grasp of how the real world works?"
