"My parents had told Sebastian that since you were basically an orphan with no backing, he could just break the arranged marriage and you wouldn't be able to do a damn thing about it. He could easily drop you and marry a woman who would actually boost his status."

"Meanwhile, the Jameson family was becoming unstoppable. If I married Maloney, it would be a massive asset to our family."

"But Sebastian ruined it all. We were inches away from finalizing the engagement, and he used that rumor to sabotage me!"

"I thought he did it for the same reason as before—that he was afraid I'd marry too well. But I found out later that wasn't it. His target wasn't me at all. He was terrified that Maloney would get the backing of the Sinclair family!"

Seraphina's voice grew louder and more erratic, her grip on Nora's arm tightening painfully.

The veins on Seraphina's forehead throbbed, her eyes swirling with a bloodshot, venomous rage. She suddenly grabbed Nora by both shoulders. "You hate him too, don't you? He's partly responsible for the misery you went through. Are you really going to let him walk away from this unscathed?"

Honestly, Nora didn't have much of an opinion on Sebastian.
