It had been a long time since Seraphina had spoken to her with such an overly intimate tone.

A chill ran down Nora's spine. Her shoulders tensed instinctively, and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up.

She asked warily, "Do what?"

Seraphina walked over slowly, linking her arm through Nora's, and lowered her voice. "Go see Sebastian."

Nora was speechless.

Well, that made sense.

What else could Seraphina possibly want from her?

It always boiled down to two things: either trying to steal her husband or trying to force Nora to become her sister-in-law.

"If I go see Sebastian, are you going to use that as a distraction to hit on my husband?"

Nora fired a point-blank shot.

Seraphina's face shifted.

That was a remarkably obnoxious thing to say.

She looked thoroughly disgusted. "What we're discussing right now has absolutely nothing to do with Maloney."

"Then why do you want me to see your brother?"

"To piss him off."

Nora stared at her.

Was that supposed to be an insult aimed at Nora?

"Sebastian and I aren't even close."

"You might think you aren't close, but he considers you the greatest regret of his life." Seraphina let out a mocking scoff. "He never actually wanted to break your arranged marriage. If Maloney hadn't been in the picture, he would have married you just like they planned."

Nora frantically set the record straight. "Whether Maloney existed or not, I was never going to marry Sebastian."
