They had dinner and then went their separate ways.
Looking back, the priority probably hadn't been solving her problem, but rather getting her into his room.
As for what would have happened in that room, only Maloney knew the answer to that now.
Regardless.
Given Maloney's intense desire for her, Nora seriously doubted he could have held out until her graduation.
He probably would have made his move eventually.
Or maybe Nora would have caught onto his strange behavior first.
After all, the old Nora had never resisted his closeness.
He would have definitely pushed his luck.
"If it weren't for the scheme, we probably could have had a normal college romance."
Cassidy also realized the downsides of the setup. She pondered for a moment before saying, "Well, you guys are basically dating post-marriage now."
"It's not as good as a college romance." Nora was suddenly curious about what kind of tactics Maloney would have used if he had held back until the very end.
He had already gone as far as inviting her to his hotel room.
Would he have invited her to his house next?
Probably.
But what excuse would he use?
Honestly, Maloney's excuses for meeting up had always been incredibly flimsy.
Most of the time, he just framed them as chance encounters.
'Fate brought us together here, it would be rude not to grab a meal together.'
Nora had never questioned it.
So, chances were, he would have claimed his pet hamster could do backflips...
Or he would have said he had a medieval nobleman's robe in his collection and invited her over to see it.
And she probably would have gone.
Once she was there...
He would have led her into his collection room.
And shut the door.
While she was admiring the robe, he would have quietly walked up behind her. He would have pressed his body close, and when she turned around, they would have 'accidentally' bumped into each other. He'd quickly grab her waist, preemptively telling her to watch her step.
Nora would have definitely been startled.
With her waist firmly in his grip, she would have just thanked him.
She might have struggled a little out of sheer embarrassment.
He would let go.
But he'd still want more.
He would ask her to stay for dinner.
