The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 215

She glanced out of the corner of her eye toward the direction they had come from.

The corridor corner they were stuck in was near the backstage entrance. It wasn't far from the main banquet hall; a full-out sprint would get them to the doors in about twenty seconds.

The problem was that Nora couldn't run.

If she ran first and immediately called for backup, would that be too risky?

It was hard to say.

Cassidy decided not to make any rash moves.

Seeing Nora's stunned expression, the scarred man's lips curled into a smirk, his low voice carrying an unsettling familiarity. "How is your mother doing?"

The question sent a shiver down Cassidy's spine, let alone Nora's.

Cassidy subtly squeezed Nora's arm.

The next second, Nora and Seraphina spoke at the exact same time.

"What does that have to do with you?"

"Mr. Lewis, she..."

Seraphina was startled by Nora's bold response and swallowed the rest of her words.

Nora's voice was surprisingly calm and steady as she asked, "Are you trying to stop us from leaving?"

The man's smirk remained, but his eyes were entirely devoid of warmth. His predatory gaze on Nora turned downright icy. "You little brat."

Nora opened her mouth to shoot back.

But a sharp, rhythmic clicking of heels echoed from the opposite direction.

Click, clack, click—

Diana Dodge strolled forward in stiletto boots.

It felt like a bizarre family reunion.

Nora smartly clamped her mouth shut.

She clung tightly to Cassidy's arm, and Cassidy leaned into her, the two of them putting on a show of shivering like terrified victims.

Diana was no greenhorn. The moment she stopped, an invisible aura of absolute authority radiated from her. Her icy gaze swept over the corridor before locking onto the scarred man's face. "Mr. Lewis, I'm taking them," she announced flatly.

The man backed down instantly, dropping his threatening posture. "Be my guest, Ms. Dodge."

Diana's eyes shifted, resting for a split second on Nora, Cassidy, and finally Seraphina. "All three of you. With me," she ordered coldly.

Like obedient little chicks, the three women scrambled to follow Diana.

Diana didn't head back toward the banquet hall.
