"I've always had terrible luck. Now I have to bring the baby for check-ups all by myself," Seraphina said, looking down at the child in her arms, her eyes brimming with a mother's tenderness. "Baby, it's hard to get a cab in the rain. You might have to wait out here with Mommy a little longer."

At that moment, Mr. Carter pulled the car up and stepped out with an umbrella to escort them.

With Mr. Carter holding the umbrella, Mrs. Gable got in first with the baby.

Pierce helped Riley in, then instructed Mrs. Gable, "Take good care of them on the way."

Mrs. Gable nodded eagerly.

Riley looked at Pierce in confusion as he stood outside. "Aren't you coming with us?"

He gestured toward the parking lot. "I have to get my car too. You guys head out first. I'll be right behind you."

Riley nodded. "Drive safely."

"I will." Pierce gave her hand an affectionate squeeze. "See you soon." He then turned to Mr. Carter. "Take it slow in the rain. Safety first."

"Understood, Boss," Mr. Carter replied.

Mr. Carter handed Pierce an umbrella before getting back into the driver's seat and pulling away toward the hospital gates.

As they drove a short distance away, Riley glanced back. She saw Pierce walking toward the parking lot under his umbrella, while Seraphina remained standing at the entrance, still holding her baby.

About an hour later, the car pulled up to the Golden Sands Postpartum Care Center.

This was the facility Riley and Pierce had chosen together, renowned for its exceptional postnatal care, recovery programs, and newborn monitoring.

Because they had booked well in advance, they were immediately greeted upon entering and escorted to their suite by a dedicated maternity nurse.

It was a massive suite featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Riley took the master bedroom with the en-suite. The maternity nurse and the baby shared the nursery, and Mrs. Gable took the guest room.

The nurse took the baby to get settled.
