The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 34

Riley's heart skipped a beat, her legs suddenly turning to jelly as she stumbled sideways.

"Are you alright?" Seraphina asked, her voice laced with feigned concern.

Pierce immediately stepped forward, shoving Seraphina aside. With the baby in one arm, he used his free hand to steady Riley. "Riley."

Riley coldly pushed his hand away, gripping the elevator rail to support herself.

Pierce glared at Seraphina, his voice dropping to a dangerous chill. "What did you do to her?"

Seraphina's eyelashes fluttered, a look of pure grievance washing over her face. "I didn't do anything."

"If you didn't do anything, why did she suddenly lose her balance?"

"I'm holding a baby. What could I possibly do to her?" Seraphina retorted, her eyes welling with tears. "All I said was congratulations. Is that a crime?"

Pierce's icy gaze swept over her occupied hands. Realizing she physically couldn't have done anything, he looked back at Riley. "Are you okay?"

Seeing how coldly he treated Seraphina, Riley's chaotic thoughts settled slightly.

Maybe she was overthinking things. Regardless, she had to ask him directly before jumping to conclusions.

But obviously, this wasn't the place for an interrogation.

"I'm fine. I just felt a little dizzy for a second."

The elevator chimed as it reached the ground floor.

Pierce grabbed her hand. "Don't move." He turned to the housekeeper. "Leave the bags by the door and come take the baby."

Mrs. Gable quickly stepped out, placed the luggage on the floor, and reached back in to take the baby from Pierce.

Pierce bent down and scooped Riley up into his arms.

Taken entirely by surprise, Riley gasped. "Put me down. I can walk on my own."
