“Riley, Pierce, long time no see.” Seraphina smiled in greeting.

Riley instinctively glanced at Pierce. He gave a brief nod but remained utterly expressionless.

In the past, Seraphina had gone to extreme lengths to break them up, doing numerous things that had hurt Riley deeply. The absolute worst was drugging her on her wedding day.

If Pierce hadn't found out in time, Riley would have been completely ruined.

Riley naturally couldn't muster a friendly face for someone who had tried to destroy her. She wasn't even willing to entertain fake pleasantries.

She grabbed Pierce's hand. “Let's go look over there.”

“Alright.” Pierce placed a protective hand on Riley's back, guiding her away.

A flash of pure malice crossed Seraphina's eyes. Her grip on the stroller tightened until her knuckles turned white, but she quickly forced a smile and followed them. “Riley, I know what I did in the past was wrong, and I'm so sorry. I've moved on now and have my own baby. Can we just put the past behind us and be friends?”

Riley stopped and looked flatly at Seraphina. “I have no interest in being friends with someone who tried to destroy me.”

Seraphina lowered her eyes, looking like someone genuinely seeking forgiveness. “What do I have to do for you to forgive me? Just say it, and I'll do it.”

“No matter what you do, I will never forgive you.”

Seraphina discreetly glanced at Pierce before biting her lip. “Landon Enterprises is going to have a long-term partnership with Sutton Financial. My brother and Pierce grew up together like brothers. If we can't get along, it's going to make things really difficult for both of them.”

Using business interests and emotional blackmail?

Riley wasn't falling for it. “I don't interfere with his company affairs, and I don't involve myself in his friendship with your brother. But as for you and me, aside from pretending the other doesn't exist, there will be no other dynamic.”

Seraphina frowned. “Why are you being like this? I already apologized, yet you're still desperately clinging to the past. What's the point?”

Riley scoffed. An apology?

She lost her patience after just a few sentences—was this the attitude of someone truly remorseful?

Although Riley had no idea why Seraphina was humbling herself to make peace, she firmly believed a leopard couldn't change its spots. Even if Seraphina had given up on Pierce, her toxic personality hadn't changed one bit.
