Riley reached out, her fingertips gently tracing the peak of Pierce's eyebrows, down the bridge of his straight nose, and finally tracing his lips. Suddenly, his lips twitched into a faint smirk.

The next second, he opened his eyes, looking at her with a teasing gleam. “Lighting fires this early in the morning?”

Riley yanked her hand back, blushing furiously. “I am not.”

Even though they had been married for almost a year, they had only truly been intimate once—on their wedding night. The very next day, an emergency had struck a branch office, and Pierce had rushed off to handle it.

By the time he returned over a month later, she was already pregnant.

Terrified of hurting the baby and overly cautious of her health, Pierce had held back ever since.

So when he teased her like that, Riley couldn't help but feel incredibly shy.

Pierce reached out and gently rested his hand on her belly. “You better hurry up and come out, little one, or your dad is going to lose his mind.”

Riley's face, already flushed, turned as red as a ripe apple. “Don't say things like that! You'll corrupt the baby.”

“How is it corrupting? It's the absolute truth.” Pierce leaned a bit closer against her. “See? I wasn't lying.”

Feeling the undeniable proof of his restraint, Riley froze for a split second before bolting out of bed. “I... I'm going to wash up.”

Watching Riley practically flee to the bathroom, Pierce glanced down at himself, shook his head helplessly, and gave himself a moment to calm down before getting out of bed.

They still hadn't settled on a name the night before.

Riley realized that before actually picking a name, a lot of words sounded beautiful. But when it came to naming her own child, she found flaws in everything.

Even though the name wasn't finalized, they had agreed to go to the mall today to shop for baby supplies.
