The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 248

Chapter 248

ARIA

The ambulance screamed through Manhattan traffic. I gripped Rebecca’s hand, watching blood soak through the bandage on her head.

‘BP dropping. Need to move faster,” a paramedic barked, adjusting Rebecca’s oxygen mask.

“Which hospital?’ I demanded.

“Redwood Medical Center.”

Thank God. I fumbled with my phone, my fingers leaving smudges on the screen.

The ambulance lurched to a stop. Everything happened in fast-forward-Rebecca disappeared on a gurney, medical jargon bounced around me, someone shoved clipboard forms in my hands. I paced the waiting room, rage burning through me. This wasn’t about business or William anymore. Victoria had crossed into something unforgivable.

Two hours crawled by before a doctor approached.

“Ms. Taylor? I’m Dr. Wilson. Ms. Mitchell is stable. Concussion, three broken ribs, fractured wrist. No internal bleeding.”

“When can I see her?” My voice came out rough.

‘She’s sedated. Check back in an hour.”

I collapsed into a chair, digging my fingernails into my palms. The waiting room door banged open and Elizabeth rushed in, hair

disheveled.

“Aria! Rebecca-is she-?”

“She’ll recover. Concussion, broken bones.”

Elizabeth dropped beside me, grabbing my hands. “This is my fault.”

“What? How?”

“Victoria gets jealous. Always has. Elizabeth’s voice cracked. ‘I’ve been spending time with Rebecca. Shopping, lunches. Victoria must

have seen us.”

“So she pushes someone down stairs? That’s not jealousy. That’s criminal.”

“She’s never been violent before.” Elizabeth stared at her trembling hands. “I failed her. I should have seen the signs.”

Blake appeared in the doorway. His eyes locked with mine, something passing between us that didn’t need words. He kissed his mother s

cheek before sitting next to me.

‘How is she?” he asked.

“Stable. Sedated.” I lowered my voice. “Victoria can’t get away with this.”

“She won’t. I’ve frozen her accounts and access.”

“That’s not enough, I hissed. She hurt Rebecca over jealousy. What happens when she gets jealous of Aurora? Or decides William doesn’t

deserve her help?”

“I have something more effective planned.” Blake’s voice dropped. “Something that guarantees she complies and never threatens our

family again.”

The hardness in his eyes should have scared me. Instead, it gave me strength. Finally, someone who would protect my children at any

cost.

A nurse interrupted us. “Ms. Mitchell is awake and asking for you, Ms. Taylor.”

Rebecca looked tiny against the hospital bed. Bandages wrapped her head, her arm encased in plaster.

“Hey,” I said, taking her good hand.

She gave a weak smile. “Sorry about the drama.”

“Are you seriously apologizing?” I blinked back tears. “Victoria did this to you.”

‘I remember.” Rebecca winced. “She went crazy when I wouldn’t give her the fall collection passwords. Said I’d regret choosing you over

her.

Elizabeth stepped forward. “Rebecca, I’m so-

‘Don’t apologize, Mrs. Morgan. Rebecca’s eyes softened. “You’ve only been kind to me.”

“From now on, you’re family,” I said firmly. “Victoria won’t come near you again.”

Worry crossed Rebecca’s face. “But William… if you fight with Victoria…”

“Don’t worry about William, Blake cut in. “Victoria will donate as agreed.”

Rebecca nodded, then grimaced at the movement. I should sleep.”

We slipped out as her eyes closed. In the hallway, I turned to Blake. “I’m going to see Victoria.”

I’m coming with you.”

“No.” I pressed my hand against his chest. ‘She’ll feel trapped with both of us. This needs to be woman-to-woman.

He frowned. ‘Fine. But security stays outside the door.”

Victoria’s hotel suite looked the aftermath of a celebrity meltdown-champagne bottles, designer shopping bags, room service everywhere.

She’d been celebrating while Rebecca lay in a hospital bed.

When she walked out of the bedroom and saw me sitting there, she froze.

“How did you get in here?”

“Your security isn’t that great.” I kept my voice flat. “Sit down.”

Victoria recovered quickly, smirking as she poured champagne. “Here about poor Rebecca? Accidents happen.”

*Security cameras caught you pushing her. Twice.”

She shrugged. “So what? You can’t touch me. You need me.”

“Rebecca could have died.”

“But she didn’t.” Victoria examined her nails. “Now, I want thirty percent of Nouvelle, Rebecca fired, and a board seat.”

I almost laughed. “You’ve got some nerve.

“I’ve got what your son needs. Her eyes hardened. “Without it, he dies. Simple.”

I stood slowly, moving toward her. “You’re confused about who has power here.

‘I’m not confused.” She backed up slightly. “Your son-
