The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 249

Chapter 249

“Can get your bone marrow whether you consent or not.” I watched her face drain of color. ‘Medical ethics boards make exceptions when

someone’s life is at stake. Especially when the donor committed assault on camera.”

Victoria’s champagne glass crashed to the floor. “You’re lying.”

“Aggravated assault. Five to fifteen years in prison. I stepped closer. “Prisoners don’t have medical autonomy. Courts can order bone

marrow collection.”

“Blake wouldn’t allow-

“It was his idea.” I smiled coldly. “Oh, and Rebecca? She’s now your mother’s goddaughter. And your brother’s little sister in every way that

matters.

Victoria lunged for the balcony. Security guards appeared instantly, grabbing her arms. She screamed, thrashing wildly.

“Let me go! I’ll jump!”

“No, you won’t.” A guard pulled out a syringe. “Mr. Morgan anticipated this. We came prepared.”

Victoria’s eyes bulged with fear. “You can’t do this! I’m a Morgan!”

“And I’m protecting a Morgan-William Morgan,” I said. “My son comes first.”

As I walked out, Victoria’s screams collapsed into sobs. “Please, Aria! I’m sorry! I’ll behave!”

I didn’t even turn around.

Two weeks passed. Victoria remained under medical supervision, sedated but healthy. Henderson, caught trying to help her escape, joined her in confinement-their rooms facing each other across a secured corridor.

Nouvelle returned to normal. I rehired everyone Victoria fired, restored projects she’d canceled, and fixed the damage she’d done.

I was reviewing quarterly reports when my phone rang. Blake.

‘Hey.’

“Aria. His voice sounded wrong. “Come to the medical center. Now.”

‘What happened?”

“Victoria. Problem with her blood.”

I dropped everything and ran.

The medical suite buzzed with activity. Blake stood with the medical team, his face gray. When he saw me, he reached for my hand.

“What’s going on?’ I demanded.

The lead doctor stepped forward. “Ms. Taylor, we’ve discovered a serious issue with Ms. Morgan’s blood work.”

“What issue?”

He handed me a report. “Victoria has tested positive for HIV.”

The room tilted. I grabbed Blake’s arm to steady myself. “That’s impossible. Her screening was clear last month.”

“This is recent. Within the last two weeks.”

“What does this mean for William?” I asked, already knowing the answer.

“We cannot use her bone marrow,” the doctor said. “HIV attacks the immune system. It would destroy William’s already compromised

body.”

My knees gave out. Blake caught me, lowering me into a chair. The hope we’d been clinging to-gone. William’s chance-gone.

“Wake her up,” I said, my voice hard. “I want to know what she did.”

Blake nodded to the doctor. “Do it.”

Across the hall, Henderson stirred. Seeing the medical team around Victoria, he pressed against the window, his face bruised from his

escape attempt.

“Blake!” he called hoarsely. “Don’t hurt my daughter!”

No one even glanced his way.

Victoria’s eyes fluttered open. Confusion turned to recognition, then contempt.

“Well, if it isn’t Taylor and Morgan,’ she slurred. “What brings you to my room?*

I leaned over her bed, fury crushing grief. “What did you do after leaving the hospital, Victoria? Tell me everything.”

‘I don’t answer to you.” She turned away.

I slammed the HIV test results onto her chest. “You have AIDS, Victoria.

Her face went white. “That’s impossible! I don’t have any disgusting disease!”

‘The test is positive. What did you do?”

Victoria stared at the report, shaking. Two weeks ago… after Blake yelled at me… I went drinking. Amanda introduced me to some

men…” Her voice faltered. “They were supposed to be clean. Amanda checked them!”

“Your shopping assistant? The one who suddenly quit?”

Understanding dawned in Victoria’s eyes. “She set me up.”

“This means you can’t donate to William, Blake said flatly.

Victoria’s expression shifted from shock to calculation. “There must be treatments. Help me, and I’ll still help William once I’m better.”

Henderson called from across the hall: “Blake, please! Help Victoria!”

I turned to Blake, desperation rising. “What do we do now?”

“I know people,” he said urgently. “Private networks. We can find another match-

“Those donors aren’t screened!” I cried. “William would never want that. He’d rather die than know someone was hurt for him.”

Victoria interrupted. “You need me. Help me get treatment, and I promise-

‘SHUT UP!” Blake and I shouted together.

My phone rang. Dr. Hall, William’s specialist. My hands trembled as I answered.
