Chapter 247
‘You’ll get an office after the procedure,” I said through clenched teeth. And any assistant except Rebecca.”
“I want Rebecca, Victoria insisted. “Something about her seems… useful.”
Rebecca stepped forward. ‘Ms. Taylor, it’s okay. I can work with Ms. Morgan.”
‘No, Rebecca. You don’t have to.”
Rebecca looked at me with determination. “For William, I’d do anything. We all would. She lowered her voice. I’ll watch her for you.”
Victoria clapped. “Perfect! Rebecca, clear my schedule this week except medical appointments. And I need full briefing on Nouvelle-
financials, strategic plans, everything.”
I watched helplessly as Rebecca nodded, already taking notes. The executives stared at me, waiting for direction.
“Meeting’s over, I announced. “Everyone back to work. Victoria, you can use the small office on third floor temporarily.”
“Third floor?” Victoria scoffed. “That won’t work.”
“That or nothing until after the procedure,” I stated firmly.
Victoria stared me down, then shrugged. “Fine. Rebecca, show me my… temporary space.”
As they left, I grabbed Rebecca’s arm. “Be careful,” I whispered. “She’s dangerous.”
Rebecca squeezed my hand. “I know. Don’t worry.”
But I did worry. Victoria’s cruelty made me fear for anyone near her. I just hoped Rebecca could handle herself.
Three days passed with Victoria making herself at home at Nouvelle. She criticized everything from our fall collection to the break room coffee. Employees walked on eggshells, knowing her connection to William’s treatment.
I split my time between mornings at the hospital with William and afternoons keeping Victoria from terrorizing my staff. Blake focused on procedure preparations, working with doctors to ensure everything went right.
On the third day, I was reviewing designs when Jessica burst in, face white with panic.
“Ms. Taylor! Come quick! Rebecca fell down the stairs!”
I dropped everything and ran. A crowd gathered at the main staircase. Through the bodies, I saw Rebecca lying motionless at the bottom, blood pooling under her head.

Chapter 247
‘Someone call an ambulance!’ I shouted, pushing through to kneel beside her. “Rebecca? Can you hear me?”
No response. Her breathing came shallow, her pulse racing under my fingers.
Jessica grabbed my arm. “Victoria did it! I saw everything. She made Rebecca carry heavy boxes up the stairs, then pushed her when
nobody was looking!”
“That’s a serious accusation, came Victoria’s cold voice behind us. She descended the stairs slowly, fake concern plastered on her face. “I
would never do that. Poor Rebecca must’ve lost her balance with those samples.
“Bullshit!” Jessica shouted. “I saw you push her. Twice!

Victoria’s eyes narrowed. “Careful making accusations without proof. Could damage your career.”
A woman-Victoria’s new shopping consultant-stepped forward. “I was with Ms. Morgan the whole time. Rebecca tripped. Nobody pushed
her.”
Several employees nodded, clearly scared of Victoria. God, they were choosing self-preservation over truth. It made me sick.
Paramedics arrived, stabilizing Rebecca’s neck before moving her to a stretcher. I held her hand, whispering words she couldn’t hear.
As they wheeled her toward the exit, Blake appeared in the doorway. He took in everything-Rebecca unconscious, the blood, my tears,
Victoria’s smirk.
“What happened?” he demanded.
Before I could answer, Victoria spoke. “Tragic accident. Rebecca fell-*
“She was pushed, I cut in. “Victoria pushed her down the stairs.”
Victoria gasped dramatically. “How dare you! I would never-
“Security,” Blake called to the guard near the door. “Pull up the stairwell camera footage. Now.”
Victoria’s face changed. “Camera? What camera?”
Blake’s expression turned deadly. “The one I installed after you started working here. Pointed right at that staircase.”
The guard returned minutes later with a tablet. Blake watched it, his face hardening.
“Play it,” I demanded.
He turned the screen for everyone to see. The footage showed Victoria ordering Rebecca to carry boxes, then deliberately pushing her- twice-sending her tumbling down the stairs.

Gasps filled the lobby. Victoria’s consultant quietly backed away, suddenly absorbed in her phone.
Victoria’s face twisted with rage. “So what? That nobody means nothing. Remember who holds your precious son’s life!”
I lunged at her, blind with fury. Blake caught me around the waist.
“Touch me,” Victoria threatened, “and I won’t save William. You need me, Aria. Need me alive and willing.”
Her words hit me with cold reality. She was right. William needed her. I couldn’t risk his life, even for Rebecca.
“Get her out,” I told Blake, my voice shaking. “Before I do something we’ll all regret.”
