The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 245

Chapter 245

:))

‘I know what it’s worth. And I know what my son’s life is worth.”

My company. My baby. Built from nothing with sixteen-hour days and endless sacrifice. But what good was a legacy if William wasn t here

for it?

Victoria’s eyes gleamed with greed. “Fifty percent.”

“Thirty percent is non-negotiable. Take it or leave it.”

She studied my face, searching for weakness. “How do I know you’ll keep your word?”

I reached for my bag and pulled out a folder. “I’ve already contacted my lawyer and the draft is ready. If you agree, we can sign it right

away.”

Victoria reached for the documents, but I pulled them back. “Not yet. You’ll get these fifteen minutes before William’s procedure, when you sign the donor consent forms. Not a minute sooner.”

Victoria’s lips thinned with displeasure. “I want to see them now.”

“You’ll see them when I say you can see them. This is my offer. Take it or leave it.”

For a tense moment, I thought she might refuse. Then she nodded curtly. “Fine. But if you try to cheat me, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

“Nurse,’ I called, “please take Ms. Morgan back to her room. She needs to rest.”

As Victoria was led away, I finally let out the breath I’d been holding. The corridor suddenly felt too small, too confining. My head pounded with the magnitude of what I’d just done.

“I need some air,” I muttered, heading for the stairwell that led to the hospital’s roof garden.

I heard Blake’s footsteps behind me but didn’t slow down. I needed space to think, to breathe, to process what I’d just done.

The rooftop garden was empty, the chilly morning air keeping other visitors away. I leaned against the railing, looking out at the Manhattan skyline without really seeing it.

“You shouldn’t have done that, Blake said quietly, coming to stand beside me. “I could have handled Victoria.”

“By giving her back her Morgan status? By letting her into William and Aurora’s lives permanently?” I shook my head. “This way, she gets what she really wants-money-and we maintain boundaries.”

‘I’ll buy the shares from her,” Blake offered immediately. “Once William is better, I’ll make her an offer she can’t refuse.”

A laugh escaped me, more bitter than I intended. “Always the businessman, aren’t you?”

“Aria. Blake turned me to face him, his hands gentle on my shoulders. “Why didn’t you let me handle this? Why sacrifice your company?”

“Because William is my responsibility too. Not just yours. I don’t need you to swoop in and fix everything.”

Blake caught my real motive immediately. “You’re not just protecting William-you’re protecting me from her manipulation.” I shifted uncomfortably, exposed and vulnerable under his knowing gaze.

“You care about me,” he added slowly.

“Yes. I care about you. I think about you. I worry about you. Happy now?” The words tumbled out, unstoppable once I’d started.

Blake’s expression softened in a way I rarely saw. “Aria, do you have any idea how long I’ve waited to hear you say that?”

“Don’t make a big deal out of it,” I mumbled, suddenly embarrassed by my outburst.

“It is a big deal. His voice dropped lower. “Because I’ve never stopped caring about you either. Not for a single day.”

My heart stuttered in my chest. I wanted to believe him. After everything we’d been through, after all the pain and misunderstandings, I wanted to believe that there was still something worth salvaging between us.

“We focus on William first,” I said firmly, trying to regain my emotional footing. “Everything else can wait.”

Blake nodded, but his eyes never left my face. “When William is better-and he will get better-we’re going to have a long conversation

about us.”

“There is no ‘us,” I protested weakly.

“There’s always been an ‘us,’ Aria. Even when you hated me.”

He reached for my hand, his fingers warm against mine. For once, I didn’t pull away. I let my hand rest in his, a tentative truce in our

years-long war.

The moment was interrupted by the sound of the stairwell door opening.
