The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242

I froze, not answering.

“Interesting how life works,” he continued, his voice dropping to a near-whisper. ‘The universe seems to be balancing things. Maybe

heaven itself couldn’t stand seeing Blake have everything, so it decided to take something precious from him.”

My blood turned cold.

Jessica stepped forward immediately. “Are you actually cursing William? How dare you!”

Alex turned to her, eyes flashing with anger. “I’m speaking to Ms. Taylor. When did I give you permission to interrupt?”

Jessica backed away, her face paling.

Something snapped inside me. I moved between Alex and Jessica, drawing myself up to full height.

“Jessica works for me,” I said, my voice deadly quiet. “What she says or does is absolutely none of your business.”

Alex started to speak, but I cut him off.

“Get out.” My hands were shaking with rage. ‘GET OUT NOW.”

When he didn’t move, I shoved him hard, surprising even myself with the force. “I don’t welcome guests who speak death over my child. My son doesn’t need your toxic presence. Get out!”

Alex stumbled backward, catching himself against the wall. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he straightened his expensive suit.

Before either of us could speak again, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hallway.

‘Aria, it’s been so long…”

I turned to see Victoria standing there, looking nothing like the proud, sneering woman I remembered. Her face was gaunt, with dark circles under her eyes. Her designer clothes had been replaced by simple jeans and a sweater that hung loosely on her thin frame. Most shocking were the fading bruises visible on her wrists and neck.

“You have so many visitors today,” she said with an awkward attempt at a friendly smile. “Are you receiving guests?”

I stared at her, completely thrown off balance. “…Why are you here?”

Victoria’s smile faltered slightly. “I came to see my little nephew William, of course.”
