The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 237

Chapter 237

“You can stay,” I said, my face warming slightly. “It would be rude to send you away after you came all this way.”

Blake’s eyes brightened as he nodded. He immediately began arranging the plates and utensils. I felt trapped-not in the sickening way

Alex made me feel, but in a completely different sense. I couldn’t escape Blake’s attention.

“Aurora spent half an hour making those rice balls, Blake said, pointing to the misshapen creations. ‘She wanted them to be cats.”

“They’re wonderful,” I said, picking one up. It tasted much better than it looked.

Blake watched me eat with satisfaction. “William supervised the pasta. He’s becoming quite the little chef.”

“The steak is cooked well.”

“Medium rare, the way you always preferred,” Blake replied.

The fact that he remembered such a small detail after all these years made my chest tighten. How could he remember what I liked when

he’d spent so many years ignoring me?

After lunch, Blake continued his caretaking. He insisted I take a short rest, citing Aurora and William’s concerns about my health. He’d brought an elegant afternoon tea set and a fruit platter full of vitamin C.

‘I’m not sick,” I protested. “And I have meetings.”

*Fifteen minutes, Blake insisted. “Your staff won’t mind.”

What surprised me most was discovering he’d arranged the same treatment for all Nouvelle employees. The entire company buzzed with excitement over the unexpected treats from Morgan Global Enterprises’ CEO.

“Why did you do that?” I asked when Jessica informed me of the company-wide afternoon tea.

‘I wanted to thank them for taking care of you,” Blake said simply.

By evening, I felt overwhelmed. I was turning into Blake’s pet project. I finally sent him away, claiming work emergencies. When I got home, my stomach ached from all the food he’d pressured me to eat. What game was Blake playing now?

I found William reading on the couch and wanted to ask him about Blake’s behavior, but Olivia interrupted.

“William needs rest,” she said. “He’s been working on a project.’

“What project keeps a three-year-old busy?” I asked.

Olivia smiled. ‘He calls it returning a favor. Our little businessman has debts to repay.”

We laughed at the idea of toddlers having business obligations.

“Olivia, I lowered my voice, “Alex is back. He’s LY Technology’s CEO now.”

Her face went pale. “What? How did he get so high up?”

‘I don’t know. But I’m worried about why he’s here.”

“He’s helping David with his legal troubles, Olivia said. “But why now? If they were real friends, Alex would have helped three years ago.”

I nodded. ‘Maybe Alex is using David as bait. Looking for something-or someone.”

Olivia’s eyes widened. “Me. He’s after me. David wants custody of Ethan.”

‘Let’s not jump to conclusions,” I said. “Whatever his goal, we won’t let him win.”

William, Ethan, and Aurora came downstairs.

“Honey, are you feeling sick?” I asked William.

“I was just checking something on the computer,” he said quickly. “Did you get the snacks Aurora and I made?*

“You mean the lunch your father delivered?” I raised an eyebrow. “What are you planning?”

William tried to look innocent. “Dad brought food for Godmom Olivia too.”

Olivia looked surprised. “That black bag was food? He threw it at me without saying a word!”

I remembered how Blake had treated me differently-politely presenting the meal, sitting beside me, explaining each dish.

‘William,” I sat next to him, “are you trying to get your dad and me back together?”

“No,” he said too quickly, avoiding my eyes. “I just wanted you to eat good food.”

Aurora bounced over. “Daddy made yummy food for Mommy! Aurora helped!”

“Yes, sweetie, the rice balls were delicious,” I said, stroking her hair.

“Daddy said Mommy works too hard, Aurora continued. “Daddy was sad.”

William shot her a warning look. “Aurora, remember what we talked about?”

‘Oops!” Aurora covered her mouth. ‘Secret!”

Now I understood. William wasn’t just repaying a favor-he was setting up meetings between Blake and me.

‘William,” I said carefully, ‘your father and I have a complicated relationship. We can’t just-

“But Daddy’s different now,” William insisted. “He’s trying hard.”

“Trying what?” I asked.

William hesitated. “Trying to be better. For us.”

My heart ached. I knew what William wanted-a normal family. But could Blake really change? After everything that happened?
