Chapter 235
ARIA

The first morning back home, the air didn’t smell like disinfectant anymore. I was in the kitchen making William some light breakfast
when the doorbell rang.
“Rebecca? What brings you here so early?”
She looked uncomfortable. “May I come in? I have news about Elizabeth.”
I let her enter. “Is everything okay?”
Rebecca sat on the couch. “A video of Blake acknowledging the children at the hospital has been posted online. Elizabeth saw it.”
My heart sank. “And?”

“She wants to meet her grandchildren, Rebecca said gently. “Elizabeth is very lonely, Aria. She’s asking if the children could visit Morgan Mansion, or if she could come see them here.”
I thought about Elizabeth, alone in that huge house. Despite everything, I understood her situation.
“What do you think?” I asked Aurora and William, who had come into the living room.
Aurora bounced excitedly. “Grandma is very nice to Aurora! Aurora wants to see her!”
William nodded thoughtfully. “Grandma isn’t well. Maybe our visit would make her feel better.”
I felt proud of their kindness. “Rebecca, please arrange for us to visit Morgan Mansion.”
Rebecca smiled gratefully. We agreed she’d pick up the kids now and I’d get them after work.
Later, I went to Morgan Mansion to pick up the children. The moment I walked in, I could tell something was wrong.
When Blake walked the children to the car, I noticed the complex emotions in his eyes.
“What happened today?” I asked quietly as the children climbed into the backseat.
Blake’s jaw tightened. “A woman named Mrs. Howard came with her granddaughter Mia. They’re distant relatives on my mother’s side.”
“What happened?” I asked, already knowing it was bad.
‘Mia danced for my mother. Aurora noticed a mistake and mentioned it.” Blake’s voice hardened. “They started mocking Aurora, calling her

names.”

My protective instincts flared. “They insulted my daughter?”
“They brought in Nina, Aurora’s dance teacher, to prove Aurora wrong.” Blake’s eyes flashed with anger. “When that didn’t work, they complained about my decision to transfer assets to the children.”
“You kicked them out?” I guessed.
Blake nodded. “They’re never welcome in my home again. I sent Nina back, but Rebecca wanted to stay with my mother. They’ve grown
close.”
I nodded. ‘Rebecca seems to really care for Elizabeth. Nouvelle doesn’t have any urgent matters, so it’s good for her to stay.”
“Thank you for understanding,” Blake said. “And Aria, I’m sorry this happened.”
Something occurred to me. “Remember when you told me that when children misbehave, it’s always the mother’s fault?”
Blake winced. “I was completely wrong, Aria. Children are the responsibility of both parents. I was unfair to blame everything on you.”
His admission surprised me. The old Blake would never have admitted his mistakes so openly.
“Your family members aren’t wrong,” I said quietly. “The Morgan assets are what you built. The children and I haven’t contributed
anything to the company.”
“That’s not true,” Blake said firmly.
“If you want to take back those assets, I would understand.”
“No.” Blake’s response was immediate. “I will never take back what I’ve given to my family.” His eyes softened as he looked toward the car. “William has your intelligence and kindness. Aurora has your spirit and talent. They deserve everything I can give them.”
The children smiled hearing his praise. William tried to hide it, while Aurora bounced in her seat.
“We should go,” I said, uncomfortable with where this was heading.
The children ran toward Olivia’s house, eager to tell her about their day with their grandmother.
I unbuckled my seatbelt, wincing as pain shot through my leg. My old injury ached when I was tired. As I tried to stand, my foot caught in a blanket and I fell forward, right into Blake’s chest.
My lips accidentally brushed his neck. The contact sent electricity through both of us. We froze it had been years since we’d touched like
this.

My face burned as I tried to pull away, but I couldn’t find my balance. Each attempt to stand made things worse, pressing us closer
together.
“Blake, help me up, I whispered urgently.
His voice sounded strained. ‘Aria, I can’t help you right now.”
“What do you mean you can’t?”
Then I felt it against me. My eyes widened in understanding.
Blake looked directly into my eyes. “I’m still a man, Aria. Around the woman I once loved, I lose control.”
Before I could think clearly, Blake guided me into his car parked near the entrance. The windows were tinted, shielding us from view.
“The children haven’t gone inside yet, I protested weakly.
Blake’s breathing was uneven, his jaw clenched with restraint. “I need to… handle this situation before I can think straight.”
In the confined space, I watched as Blake struggled with himself. His perfectly sculpted features were tense with desire the sharp line of his jaw, his dark eyes heavy-lidded, his usually composed expression completely undone. Even disheveled like this, he was devastatingly
handsome.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he said roughly, his voice deeper than usual.
But I couldn’t look away as he dealt with his situation, his movements controlled yet desperate. The way his muscles tensed beneath his expensive shirt, how his breathing grew ragged, the flush that crept up his neck – it was mesmerizing and shameful all at once.
Time seemed to stretch endlessly. His self-control and stamina were evident in how long he took, how methodical he was even in this moment of weakness. I found myself transfixed by the vulnerability on his usually composed face.
When it was finally over, we sat in stunned silence. The windows had fogged from our heavy breathing, creating a cocoon of intimacy I
desperately wanted to escape.
“Blake,” I whispered, biting my swollen lip. “Let me go.”
“I’m sorry,” he said, though his fingers still traced lazy circles on my wrist. “I lost control.”
The contradiction between his words and actions ignited my anger. “You’re still doing it. Saying one thing while doing another.”
“What do you mean?”
“This!” I gestured frantically. “You planned this whole thing, didn’t you? Getting me alone, making me fall into you, making me watch…”

“Aria, 1-
Save it, I snapped, pulling my hand away. “You haven’t changed at all. Still manipulating situations, still making me complicit in your
your moments of weakness.”
I stumbled out of the car, shame and anger burning through me. How could I have stayed? How could I have watched him like that
My legs shook as I walked toward the house. Behind me, I heard nothing no footsteps, no calls for me to wait.
I glanced back once. Blake stood beside the car, watching me leave, his expression unreadable in the growing darkness. Even now, rumpled and catching his breath, he looked like he’d stepped out of a magazine. The sight only made my humiliation worse.
How could I have been so weak? How could I have let myself be drawn into his private moment like that?
