The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 216

Chapter 216

“Stop making things up!” Emma’s voice rose to a screech.

“Someone attacked me when I was searching for those records, Olivia continued. “What are you hiding, Emma?’

Emma turned to me, desperate. “Aria, tell her to stop this crazy talk!”

I stepped forward, meeting her eyes directly. “There’s an easy fix, Emma. Get examined at another hospital. Prove Olivia wrong.

“Absolutely not!” Emma recoiled. “You’re all plotting against me! You’d tamper with the results!*

The crowd watched in shocked silence. Emma’s reaction spoke volumes.

“Interesting how innocent people refuse simple tests,” I said quietly.

Emma’s eyes darted around wildly. Suddenly, her expression changed. She straightened up, looking past me. “Blake! Thank god you’re

here!

I turned to see Blake walking toward us, his face grim as a funeral.

Emma rushed to him, tears streaming down her face. “They’re attacking me! Making horrible accusations! Saying I had something to do

with Dr. Smith disappearing!”

Blake stood rigid, his left hand clenched into a white-knuckled fist.

“Blake, they don’t understand, Emma continued desperately. “Dr. Smith only gave me special treatment because my spine was severely

damaged. There was nothing inappropriate happening!”

When Blake remained silent, Emma grew frantic. “Why aren’t you defending me? You investigated this yourself! Your security team proved

I wasn’t even at the hospital that day!”

I stepped closer. “If you’ve got nothing to hide, Emma, why not get re-examined? Any decent doctor could verify your condition.”

‘I don’t trust you or Redwood Medical!” Emma shot back. “You’d probably have me poisoned!”

“Wow, that’s what innocent people say,” I replied coldly.

Emma’s eyes narrowed to slits. “Speaking of guilt, let’s talk about Aaron drowning three years ago.”

My heart slammed against my ribs at my father’s name.

“Christine was responsible, and she’s dead now,” Emma continued. “Blake already investigated and cleared me. You’re just bitter because

daddy died, and you need someone to blame!”

The room went cemetery-quiet. Emma had successfully shifted focus from herself to me.

“Emma, Blake’s voice cut through the tension. ‘Did you visit the hospital that afternoon?”

“No!” Emma exclaimed. “Your security team checked the footage. I wasn’t there!”

‘Funny thing about that,” Blake said, his voice arctic. “My team recently caught someone tampering with our security systems. The hospital surveillance was altered.”

Gasps rippled through the room. My pulse thundered in my ears. So I hadn’t imagined seeing her there.

“That-that doesn’t prove anything!” Emma stammered, her face draining of color. “Someone messed with the footage, but it wasn’t me!”

“Of course not,” Blake nodded. “You hired a professional. You never dirty your own hands.”

“I don’t know anything about computer hacking!” Emma protested.

I stepped closer to her. “Classic Emma move. Make a call, write a check, walk away clean.”

I turned to Blake, my voice steady despite the rage boiling inside me. “I won’t stop until I prove what she did. For my father and everyone

else she’s hurt.

Blake nodded, then reached into his jacket and pulled out a small teddy bear.

“Emma,” he said quietly. “Do you recognize this?”

Emma’s eyes widened before she composed herself. “That’s the bear Aaron gave Aria for her birthday.”

“Really?” Blake asked, “You seem pretty familiar with it.”

‘I barely knew Aaron,’ Emma said dismissively. “We weren’t close.”

Blake’s mouth curved into a cold smile. He pressed a button on the bear’s chest.

Emma’s voice filled the silent room: “Aaron, surprised to see me? Oh right… I’m your real daughter, aren’t 12

The recording continued, Emma demanding Aaron do something for her. Then came sounds of struggling, splashing water, and my father s desperate voice calling my name.

“Aria! Aria!”

“Dad!” I screamed, tears burning down my face. The children rushed to my side, William and Aurora clutching my legs while Ethan stood

guard in front.

Olivia, Richard, and Elaine stood frozen in shock. Blake watched Emma, his expression hardening with each passing second.

“Emma, Blake said quietly when the recording ended. ‘Is this what you meant when you said you weren’t at the hospital that day?”
