I scanned the guest section for the third time. No Blake. Great. As if this day wasn’t stressful enough, my ex-husband had vanished.

“Looking for Blake?” Olivia appeared beside me, adjusting her emerald bridesmaid dress. ‘I told him you’ve been in love with him for

thirteen years. He’s probably somewhere having an existential crisis.”

I shrugged, my lips curving into a small smile. “It’s not exactly a state secret. Actually, you might have done me a favor.”

“Oh?” Olivia raised an eyebrow.

*Consider it closure,” I said, smoothing my wedding dress. “A clean break with my past before I start my new life with Matthew. The final

chapter of a thirteen-year story finally ending.”

My smile probably looked more heartbreaking than tears would have been. I could feel the light fading from my eyes even as I maintained my composed expression. This was for the best. Really.

“Mom! Mom! Look at me!” Aurora came running toward us, her tiny feet pattering against the floor. She spun around, showing off her pink lace dress. William and Ethan trailed behind in their mini-tuxedos, looking uncomfortably grown-up.

“You guys look amazing,” I said, crouching down despite my wedding dress protesting.

“I wanna be a bride too!” Aurora declared, reaching for my veil with wonder in her eyes. “I want a big white dress!”

William stepped forward, his face dead serious. “Aurora, you’re not getting married. Ever.*

“Why not?” Aurora’s bottom lip jutted out.

‘Because boys are dangerous, William stated with the conviction of a tiny divorce attorney. “The ones outside our family, anyway. No

marriage until you’re at least forty.”

“Yeah!’ Ethan nodded vigorously. “We’re the only boys you need!”

I grabbed the twins’ hands, drawing strength from their warm little fingers. Ready to do this thing?” I asked, sucking in a deep breath

that didn’t quite reach my lungs.

We entered the main hall, and my eyes immediately locked onto Emma sitting smugly in the third row. The smirk on her face made my

stomach drop to my knees. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

I gripped my bouquet so hard I felt the stems crack. The ceremony should have started five minutes ago. Where was Matthew?

The whispers started, growing louder by the second.

“…groom’s a no-show…”

…karma for the Morgan divorce…”

…from New York’s power couple to public laughingstock…”

Olivia stood up abruptly. “I’m finding my brother. Now.”

Before she could move, a wedding coordinator rushed in, face white as my dress. She whispered something to Olivia, whose expression

darkened instantly.

“What’s happening?” My voice sounded distant, like it belonged to someone else.

“Matthew’s not in his room,” the coordinator blurted. “We can’t find him anywhere.”

The floor seemed to tilt beneath me. Not again. Not. Again.

“Well, well, Aria, Emma’s voice cut through the chaos as she approached, “looks like you’ve been left at the altar. Again. Must be a pattern

with you.”

I wanted to jam my bouquet down her throat. But before I could move, Olivia stepped between us.

“Back off, Emma, Olivia snapped. “Nobody invited you here.”

“I came to support my friend on her special day,” Emma replied, her voice dripping fake sweetness.

“Support?” Olivia barked out a laugh. “The staff just can’t find my brother in his room. That doesn’t mean anything.”

“Oh please, Emma rolled her eyes. “We all know what’s happening.”

“What we know,” Olivia said, her voice rising dangerously, “is that you crashed a wedding you weren’t invited to, just to be a bitch.

Emma pressed a hand to her chest, going full drama queen. ‘I’m simply showing gratitude to the Grant family. They raised me. Some of us understand gratitude.”

She glanced toward Richard and Elaine, who watched with faces like stone.

“Gratitude?” Olivia laughed bitterly. “The Grants disowned you three years ago. And what about Dr. Smith? Remember him? The doctor who conveniently vanished after hiding your medical files for years?”

Emma’s face went white. “How dare you!”
