The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214

As I passed Blake, he whispered, ‘Aria, our marriage was my fault-you never loved me, and I wasted your time. Go be happy with the man

you love.”

I stopped dead, tears running down my face. The wedding music started playing downstairs. Without looking back, I hurried out, my steps

unsteady.

BLAKE

The sound of the wedding music followed her down the hall. I retreated into the shadows, gripping that stupid teddy bear. My throat

tightens hearing guests chat about the wedding ceremony.

“Matthew and Aria make such a gorgeous couple, some society lady gushes. The ceremony is about to start.”

The bear feels heavy in my hand. My left hand clenches without me wanting it to, sending pain shooting up my arm. I need to ditch this bear somewhere and get the hell out. This crushing feeling in my chest needs to stop.

I turn away, heading for my suite. I’ve screwed up enough already. The pain meds in my pocket stay there. The physical agony actually helps-distracts me from what’s happening downstairs.

I barely make it to my room before dropping into a chair. The bear falls to the floor. Three years fighting to win her back, and now she’s marrying someone else. I close my eyes, trying to breathe through the stabbing in my chest.

The door opens. Olivia stands there, watching me.

“Come to gloat?” I ask, my voice rough.

“Actually, no.” She steps in, closing the door. “Figured I’d find you drunk or smashing furniture.”

I stand, moving away. “I’ll get out of your way.”

“Wait.” Olivia blocks me, her face serious. “I know what you did-transferring your assets to Aria and the kids.”

“It was unconditional. Don’t expect anything back.”

Her eyes narrow. “There’s something you should know. You were Aria’s first love.”

I freeze. “What?”

“Aria loved you for thirteen years.”

The words knocked the air from my lungs. I can’t breathe. “That’s not… that’s impossible.”

ร.

When Aria first saw you, she fell hard, Olivia continues. She used to hide just to watch you. She baked those coconut cookies because

she heard you loved them.”

I shake my head, brain scrambling. ‘No… she would’ve told me.”

“She couldn’t,” Olivia says, her voice hardening. Because you were obsessed with Emma.”

My legs go weak. I grab the wall. I don’t get it.”

‘Aria was terrified you’d laugh if she confessed. She was just the help’s daughter, remember?” Olivia’s words cut deep. ‘She tried to trust you, to believe you might care. Then you made her watch while you pledged your undying love to Emma.”

Memories flood back-me chasing Emma, declaring my love while Aria stood quietly nearby. All those years, she was watching, hurting.

“I thought she never loved me,” I whisper, reality crushing me. “I kept pushing her to say it. I thought I could make her feel it.”

“She did love you, Olivia says quietly. “For thirteen years.”

The truth crushes me completely. All this time, I had her love. And I threw it away. I tortured her for not saying words she’d been feeling

longer than I had.

Olivia leaves with a final warning to “behave.” The door clicks shut.

I slam my fist into the wall. Again. Again. Blood smears across the plaster, but I barely notice. Everything makes sense now-Aria’s tears, her desperation, her sacrifice. She jumped off that cliff because she loved me too much, not because she didn’t love me at all.

Blood drips onto the teddy bear. I grab it frantically, trying to wipe it clean. This was supposed to be my final gift to her-not ruined by

my bloody hands.

The bear suddenly shudders. A voice comes out-Emma’s voice.

“Aaron… though I’m your biological daughter, all you see now is Aria, this impostor daughter…”

I nearly drop the bear in shock. A recording device? Emma’s voice continues, asking Aaron to do one last thing for me.”

My fingers fumble with the bear, searching for controls, trying to hear more. Emma’s voice… asking Aaron for something… the day he

died.
