The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

ARIA

Three days later, I stood outside Blake’s hospital room. Through the glass, I could see him lying unconscious, hooked up to machines. His

face was pale but peaceful.

I raised my hand to touch the glass, then stopped. Time to move on. I had Matthew now, and the twins needed me.

As I turned to leave, an alarm blared from his room. I spun around to see Blake’s eyes snap open, staring right at me.

I stepped back, but Blake’s hoarse voice called out, “Aria! Stop…”

Before I could react, Blake ripped out his IV and tried to get out of bed. He tumbled forward, desperate to reach me, and crashed to the

floor.

“Blake!” I rushed in, dropping my purse. “What the hell are you doing? You’re gonna hurt yourself!”

Blake grabbed my wrist with surprising strength. “Don’t go,” he rasped. “Please.”

The monitors screamed. I tried helping him back to bed, but he fought me.

“You need to lie down,” I said, panic rising. “Your wounds will reopen!”

Jack burst in with Kevin Moore-Blake’s friend and CEO of Moore Technology-and Elizabeth behind him.

“What happened?” Elizabeth gasped.

“He woke up and tried to get out of bed,” I said.

Together, we got Blake back on the mattress. His hospital gown had shifted, revealing fresh blood seeping through his shoulder bandages.

“Aria,” Blake whispered, still gripping my hand. “Stay with me. I can’t chase after you right now…” His voice cracked.

Tears formed in my eyes. “Are you insane? Do you know what condition you’re in? You want to end up in a wheelchair? What were you

thinking?”

Blake just stared at me, saying nothing.

A doctor and nurses rushed in, changing his bandages and readjusting his IV. Blake’s face twisted in pain, but he stayed silent. Sweat beaded on his forehead.

“This cannot happen again, the doctor warned. “Any more sudden movements could cause permanent damage.”

Elizabeth nodded. “We’ll make sure he behaves.

After the medical staff left, I stepped back, guilt washing over me. I’m sorry. This is my fault. I shouldn’t have come.”

“No,” Elizabeth said, touching my arm. “You being here is the first thing that’s gotten through to him. He’s been out of it since surgery.” She paused. ‘Would you stay? Just until he’s stable? We can set up a workspace if you need to handle business.”

I glanced at Blake, who was watching me despite his pain.

“We can have Rebecca bring any files you need,” Elizabeth added.

I agreed reluctantly. Elizabeth led me to a sitting area near his room where I could make calls. This was going to be awkward, but I couldn’t just leave him like this.

BLAKE

Several hours later, as night fell, I jolted awake again, calling out Aria’s name. My heart pounded against my ribs as remnants of the nightmare clung to my consciousness. Something wasn’t right. The voice responding to me didn’t match the one in my memory.

“I’m here, Blake. Everything’s okay.”

My eyes snapped fully open, vision clearing to reveal not Aria, but Emma sitting beside my bed. The disappointment hit me like a physical

blow.

*Emma?” I frowned, trying to piece together what was happening. “What are you doing here?”

She smiled, reaching for my hand. “I came to see how you’re recovering after surgery. Everyone’s been so worried.”

I pulled my hand away, scanning the room. “Where’s Aria?” The last thing I remembered was seeing her through the glass, then waking up

with her beside me.

Emma’s smile faltered slightly. “Aria took off a while ago. She went to Matthew’s room.” She leaned closer. She seems super concerned about him. I saw her rushing toward his room earlier.”

The thought of Aria with Matthew sent a sharp pain through me that had nothing to do with my physical injuries. I turned away, staring out the window. The sky was turning a deep orange as evening approached.

My left arm felt numb and throbbed with pain. The doctors had said the nerve damage might be permanent if I wasn’t careful. But right now, that seemed insignificant compared to the ache in my chest.
