Chapter 171
ARIA
After getting out of that suffocating Bentley, I’d been a wreck all morning. I was trying to settle my nerves with a hot cup of coffee when my phone’s shrill ring cut through the moment of peace.
I had barely touched my coffee when my phone buzzed. Jessica’s name on the screen meant trouble-no doubt about it.
‘Aria, we’ve got a serious problem, Jessica said without preamble. “The European headquarters screwed up their tax filings. They need you there in person.”
‘How bad is it? Can’t I handle this remotely?” I asked, already dreading the answer.
“No chance. They need your actual signature and physical verification,” Jessica replied. “The silver lining is it shouldn’t take more than
three days to clean up this mess.”
Nouvelle Retail Group’s New York flagship about to open, a tax scandal would be a PR nightmare. And William had picked the perfect time
to come down with a fever, meaning I’d have to dump my kids on Olivia.
“Jessica, book me on a private jet for tomorrow morning,” I instructed, lowering my voice. “Keep this quiet. I don’t want a single person from the Morgan family getting wind of this. I’ve got enough on my plate.”
After hanging up, Blake’s breakdown in his car flashed through my mind—his ghostly pale face, those trembling hands. In that moment, he wasn’t the untouchable CEO of Morgan Global Enterprises. He looked broken. But I was certain Blake wouldn’t catch wind of my trip in
time.
*Remember, you’ve got three days to fix this European mess,” I muttered to myself. “William and Rory need their mom around.
The next morning, I checked William’s temperature one last time, calmed a clingy Aurora, and left the kids with Ethan and Olivia.
During the drive to the airport, my stomach twisted with unease. Something felt off. Stepping out of the car, I caught a glimpse of a familiar black Bentley that vanished into traffic when I looked again. Just my imagination playing tricks, I told myself.
As I reached the airport entrance, my phone pinged with a text from Olivia: “At the airport yet? Everything OK? Run into any trouble?”
I quickly replied that all was fine, thinking my paranoia was getting the better of me. Blake couldn’t care less about my comings and goings anymore. A temporary business trip wouldn’t even register on his radar.
With my bodyguards flanking me, I reached the first-class VIP lounge. While scrolling through emails, I heard muffled thumps and stifled grunts outside. I set my phone down and stood to investigate.

Chapter 171
The door flew open. Blake stormed in wearing a black suit, his expression arctic. I froze in shock-all my bodyguards lay subdued on the
ground, including my tank of a driver.
Blake slammed the door shut, crossed the room in two strides, and pinned me against the wall.
“How the hell did you find out about my flight?” I demanded, fighting to keep my voice steady.
Blake’s mouth twisted into something between a sneer and a smile. “So you’ve finally dropped the stranger act?”
“Mr. Morgan, we’re nothing but strangers who’ve crossed paths twice,” I shot back.
Right. Just two meaningless encounters,” Blake said with a hollow laugh.
I spotted a split-second opening and broke free from his grip, desperate to escape. But Blake was faster, scooping me up and pressing me
onto the leather sofa.
Before I could protest, he crushed his mouth against mine. This was the second time since my return that he’d forced himself on me. Even with security personnel nearby, I couldn’t stop him.
I fought back hard, clenching my teeth to hurt him. Blake didn’t flinch, one hand gripping my neck while continuing his assault.
When his other hand pushed up my dress, the reality of his intentions hit me.
I couldn’t hold back the tears that spilled onto Blake’s hand. He stopped instantly, his fingers visibly trembling.
He stared at the raw grief and helplessness in my eyes, his expression shifting to pain. Despite the obvious agony in his arm, he slowly
released his grip.
I shoved him away and frantically fixed my clothes, trying to steady my breathing.
