Chapter 131

I watched David’s parents barge into Olivia’s home uninvited. Three years hadn’t improved them-just older, more wrinkled, but equally
unreasonable. The moment they spotted William standing next to Ethan, their eyes lit up with predatory recognition.
Come here, grandson! Call us grandpa and grandma!” Mr. Coleman demanded, pointing directly at William.
My son didn’t move a muscle. His face remained completely blank, not a single word passing his lips. That emotionless mask reminded me of Blake. The thought of him made my stomach twist. I pushed it away-1 needed to focus on protecting our children, not waste energy on
a man who’d thrown us aside without a second thought.
Ethan started to step forward, but William quietly extended his arm, blocking his path.
Olivia rushed between the Colemans and the children. “My son is MY son. What does he have to do with you?”
Her voice trembled with rage. “You disowned your own child when he needed you most! You cut ties completely. How dare you show up
claiming my child!”
Mr. Coleman’s face turned bright red. “Our family has plenty of descendants! Don’t you dare suggest we’d abandon our lineage!”
Mrs. Coleman jabbed her finger toward Olivia. “You couldn’t forgive David for one little mistake. YOU ruined everything! We wanted to settle this three years ago, but you…” Her eyes narrowed. “You destroyed our son’s future by sending him to prison!”
That crossed the line. I stepped in front of Olivia, positioning myself between her and these toxic people.
“One little mistake?” I kept my voice deliberately calm. “Your son committed arson with casualties. That’s hardly a ‘little mistake. And I find it interesting that David got released early. Maybe I should call the prosecutor to investigate why.”
Mr. Coleman’s expression shifted instantly. I caught the flash of panic before he composed himself.
“We’re not here to discuss the past,” he said, changing tactics. “We’re here for family matters. Our grandson belongs with us. And we have wonderful news-Bella has given birth to a baby boy. We call him Ben.”
Mrs. Coleman nodded eagerly. “William’s little brother needs a place to stay. You should prepare your largest guest room for him. Or
perhaps he could share William’s room?”
I felt my blood boil. These people had abandoned their son when he went to prison, and now they were trying to claim my child? I’d die
before I’d let them near William.
Mr. Coleman’s eyes scanned the mansion, taking in the expensive décor with undisguised greed.

Ethan’s face grew increasingly pale. Aurora, my fierce little girl, noticed and stepped forward, her small fists clenched tight.

“You big meanies!” she shouted, positioning herself in front of her brothers. “My brothers don’t need any other siblings! They have ME as their sister, and that’s enough! Nobody else gets to be part of our family!”
I felt a surge of pride watching my daughter stand up for her family. She had a fierceness I’d never possessed at her age.
Mr. Coleman’s face contorted with anger. “I’m talking to my grandson, not you! Who is this wild girl? Should we teach her some
manners?’
The word ‘wild’ triggered something in Aurora. Her entire body tensed.
Aurora. Is. Not. Wild!” Each word came out as a growl. Before I could stop her, she grabbed Mr. Coleman’s outstretched finger and, with
strength no three-year-old should possess, flipped him onto the floor.
When Mr. Coleman looked up at my daughter, horror spread across his face. Aurora’s eyes had changed from their normal green to an
unnatural purple.
“You… this child…” Mr. Coleman stuttered, his voice trembling.
I rushed forward and wrapped my arms around Aurora, pulling her against my chest. My heart pounded. This was happening more
frequently now. Each episode terrified me. What if one day I couldn’t bring her back?
William, Ethan, and Olivia formed a protective circle around us. As soon as Aurora felt my embrace, her eyes gradually returned to their
natural color.
“Mommy?” she whispered, confused. She never remembered what happened during these episodes.
“It’s okay, baby, I murmured, stroking her hair. “Everything’s okay.”
Ivy appeared with two security guards. Olivia pointed at the Colemans, her voice ice-cold.
“Get out of my house! I’m putting you on the blacklist for this entire community. You will never set foot here again!”
The security guards escorted the shocked Colemans outside while I held Aurora tightly, trying to calm my own racing heart. These episodes were becoming more dangerous. We were running out of time.
The dinner table felt heavy with tension that evening. Olivia and I had canceled our plans to go out, deciding it was safer to stay home after the incident. The children ate quietly, the excitement of unpacking their gifts waiting for after dinner.
I watched William carefully. He hadn’t spoken a word since the confrontation. His face remained impassive, but I knew him well enough to see the slight tightness around his eyes that indicated pain. Was his condition flaring up again? We’d have to check his medication

“Time for bed, children, Ivy announced once they’d finished. “Let’s go upstairs and see what treasures Ms. Taylor brought back for you.”
After the children left, Olivia poured us both generous glasses of red wine. Her hands trembled slightly.
“Thank you, Aria,” she said, her voice barely audible. “William protected Ethan today. And Aurora…” She shook her head. “That little girl
stood up for both of them.”
“They’re family,” I replied simply. “And Ethan is my godson. Protecting you both is what family does.”
“No, you shouldn’t have to…” Olivia’s eyes filled with tears. “This whole mess is my fault. I was stupid and blinded by love. I ended up hurting myself and others. Not only did I get deceived, but now my Ethan has such a terrible biological father… William and Aurora already have enough challenges, and now I’ve dragged them into my problems too.”
I took a deep breath. Olivia knew what others didn’t.
While William and Aurora appeared normal on the surface-even more adorable than most children-the reality was far more complicated.
“The toxin in Aurora’s system affects her emotional control,” I explained, though Olivia already understood. “When she gets extremely upset, her eyes turn purple, and it’s almost like a different Aurora takes over-cold and violent.”
I didn’t tell her how terrifying those episodes could be, how sometimes my sweet daughter became someone I didn’t recognize.
“And William?” Olivia asked, though she knew the answer.
“His exposure was greater. He was born with a rare blood condition. That’s why he’s always been so quiet, so controlled. He can’t afford
emotional outbursts.”
For years, I’d worked tirelessly to keep Aurora emotionally stable and used medications and medical treatments to control William’s condition. We’d barely managed to prevent their conditions from worsening, maintaining a fragile balance.
But illness is unpredictable-especially William’s. If his condition worsened, it could become life-threatening.
Tears streamed down Olivia’s face Such a wonderful boy. When will he ever get to live a normal, healthy life?”
I set down my glass and looked her directly in the eyes. “If everything goes according to plan… in about a year.”
“A year? What’s with the timeline? Got something planned?”
