The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 106

Chapter 106

CHRISTINE

“What do you want?” Blake asked.

“Want?” I dug the knife deeper. A thin line of blood appeared on Aria’s neck. “I want you to suffer like Emma suffered.”

Richard stepped forward. “Christine, please-

“Shut up!” I screamed.

Blake’s hands clenched. “Let her go. This is between us.”

I laughed bitterly. “Everything is about Aria. She’s the reason Emma couldn’t have you. She’s the reason my daughter cried for years.”

And now she’ll pay for it.

“Here’s what’s going to happen,” I said coldly. “You’re going to marry Emma. A real marriage. You’re going to give my daughter everything

she deserves.

Blake’s jaw tightened. “And if I refuse?”

I pressed the knife harder. Aria whimpered. More blood trickled down her neck.

“Then I slit her throat right here,” I said. “And you watch her die knowing you could have saved her.”

“You’re insane, Blake said.

“I’m a mother who’s watched her daughter suffer too long,” I replied. “With Aria gone, you’ll finally see Emma. You’ll realize what you’ve

been missing.

Blake took a step closer. “You really think I’d marry Emma after you murdered Aria? You think she’d want that?”

“Emma wants you,” I said simply. “She’s always wanted you.

“She’d hate herself, Blake said. “You’d destroy her.”

He’s trying to manipulate me. But I won’t fall for it.

Emma would understand,” I said. “She’d see I did this for her. That I loved her enough to remove the obstacle.”

Blake’s eyes narrowed. “Is that what you tell yourself? That murder is love?”

“Love is doing whatever it takes to protect your child,” I said. “So prove you can love. Marry Emma and I’ll let Aria go.”

Blake was silent, emotions flickering across his face.

He’s weighing if Aria’s life is worth Emma’s happiness.

“Fine, Blake said finally. “I’ll marry Emma.”

Triumph surged through me. “You’ll divorce Aria immediately?”

“Yes.”

“Give Emma a real wedding? Children?”

“Yes,” Blake said flatly.

Perfect. Emma will finally have everything.

But something felt wrong. He’d agreed too quickly.

“You’re lying,” I said.

Blake’s silence confirmed it.

Rage burned through me. “This is why Aria has to die. As long as she’s alive, you’ll never choose Emma.

Blake’s voice softened. “Then let Aria go and find out the truth. Ask Emma what she really wants. If she truly wants me, I’ll marry her. I

promise.”

No. It’s a trap. The moment I let Aria go, Blake will disappear.

“I don’t believe you,” I said.

“Then you’re going to kill an innocent woman, Blake said. “Someone whose only crime was catching my eye.”

“She’s not innocent,” I said. “She married you knowing Emma loved you.”

Blake’s expression became cold. “If I’m destroyed by Aria’s death, I can’t help Emma. But if Aria lives and I marry Emma, I can give your daughter everything. The Morgan name, the wealth, the power.”

I considered it. A live Aria, discarded and humiliated, might be better than a dead one.

“Fine,” I said. “But you divorce Aria publicly. Humiliate her. Make sure everyone knows she was just a contract wife.”

Blake s jaw clenched. “Done.”

And you marry Emma within three months.”

“Agreed, Blake said.

This could work.

I started to loosen my grip on Aria-

And then her eyes snapped open.

ARIA

I’d been awake the whole time. Listening. Feeling the knife. Hearing Christine’s heart break.

She really does love Emma. In her own twisted, broken way.

Part of me wanted to feel sympathy. Part of me wanted to scream at her for killing my father.

But mostly I just felt tired.

“I don’t agree,” I said clearly.

Christine went rigid behind me. Blake’s eyes widened in horror.

“You were conscious this whole time?” Christine’s voice shook in my ear.

I turned my head slightly, feeling the blade nick my skin. “Did you really think I’d pass out that easily?”

A white Mercedes came screeching up the mountain road. Jack jumped out, laptop in hand.

“The hospital surveillance has been restored!” he shouted, running toward us.

Blake nodded grimly. He knew. He’d always known what I was planning.

Jack opened the laptop. The coffee shop footage behind Redwood Medical Center-someone deleted three seconds. We got it back. It

shows you, Christine, leaving through the back entrance right after Aaron died.”

“That’s impossible, Christine breathed.

“There’s more,” Jack continued. “Grant estate security cameras caught Emma on the balcony at the exact time of the murder. She has bruises on her face. Physical proof she wasn’t at the hospital.”

:.

Christine’s grip on me loosened. “You’re lying. You don’t have any real evidence.”

I smiled. She was right. Jack’s laptop was probably showing nothing. Blake’s investigators might have found something, but I never waited to see. I’d set this trap weeks ago, fed Christine just enough lies to make her panic.

“You’re right, I don’t have solid evidence,” I said calmly. “This whole thing was a setup. But it doesn’t matter anymore.”

The wind whipped around us. Below, waves crashed against rocks.

‘I came here ready to die,” I continued. “I’ve been ready for a long time. This world is too painful. Too cruel. I have nothing left to live

for.

“You’re insane, Christine whispered.

“Maybe,” I agreed. “But you chose your ending, and it’s fitting. Just like how you murdered my father, we’ll die together.”

Understanding dawned on Christine’s face. “You want us both to die.”

“Finally,” I said. “You get it. My father’s waiting for me. So is my baby. We can have a family reunion in hell.”

Christine suddenly threw the knife away. She tried to back away from the cliff edge. “No! I don’t want to die! Emma needs me!”

I grabbed her wrist with both hands. My grip was iron.

“Too late for that,” I said.

“Let go of me!” she screamed, trying to pull free. “Emma will be alone! She’ll have no one!”

“Never.”

‘Aria, please! Blake stumbled toward us. “Don’t do this! I’m begging you!

I looked at him one last time. At his desperate face. At the love in his eyes that came too late, too late, always too late.

Something in my chest cracked. But I’d made my choice weeks ago.

“I’m sorry, Blake,” I said softly. “But I’m so tired of hurting.”

Then I pulled Christine backward with all my strength.

For one suspended moment, we hung in the air. I saw Blake’s hand reaching desperately for me, his mouth open in a scream I couldn’t

hear over the wind.

Then gravity claimed us, and we fell.
