Chapter 16
“There’s still plenty of time; I’ll study hard.”

Jack’s gaze fell on her, then he looked down, his voice cold, “Don’t ask such simple questions in the future!”
Alice smiled. Did that mean she could still ask questions?
For several days, Alice lingered in the infirmary after school, only leaving once her homework was done. But Chloe, distracted by her gaming training, started to zone out in class and even sleep.
Of course, as the teacher’s favorite, she only said she wasn’t feeling well, and the teacher didn’t press further.
Alice saw Chloe flaunting her training camp photos on social media, along with videos of her gaming alongside her brothers, all with matching usernames. It was the same as in her past life, but she wasn’t part of it.
“Not focusing on homework but wanting to play games?” Jack approached her, saw the gaming videos on her phone.
Alice shook her head.“Just browsing. Studying is my top priority.”
“Next week is the monthly exam. If you make it into the top 100, you can play games.”
Alice grinned.“Will you play with me, teacher?” She knew he played the game, too.
He lowered his eyes, his profile still handsome.“It’s been a while since I played; let’s talk after make it into the top 100.”
“Deal.”

Alice looked at his back. She had to make it into the top 100. After all, he acted like he was really good. She was pretty good at gaming in her past life too. Maybe then she could impress Jack in the game and regain a bit of her self–esteem.
Suddenly, she felt a spark of excitement.
After finishing her homework and heading home, she walked into the living room and saw her second brother, Noah, sitting on the couch.
Her heart dropped; why was he back so early? The brothers had been at the training camp and usually returned late.
Noah looked up, his tone serious.“Where have you been? Why are you back so late?”
Alice’s heart pounded. She couldn’t let him know about the infirmary. She didn’t want to lose her only sanctuary.
She looked down at the floor.“I went to a study hall. It was crowded, which is good for studying.”
“Give me your backpack.”
She handed it over and watched as her brother flipped through her homework, seeing the dense notes and error corrections.
After reading, Noah looked dubious. The housekeeper had told him Alice hadn’t returned on time. He hadn’t expected her to actually be studying.
He set the backpack down, “Alice, we need to talk.”

“Noah, what do you want to talk about?”

Noah noticed the quiet Alice in front of him and felt she had changed a lot, but he couldn’t pinpoint how. In the past, she would have cried and complained. But now, she said nothing. It felt like Alice was becoming increasingly uncontrollable.
Noah said, “Chloe is improving rapidly. If you joined the training, you’d improve too. You’re talented. You could train part–time without interfering with your studies. Wouldn’t it be better for

us‘ united.”
She replied firmly, “I don’t want to join the team.”
“Alice, Chloe is part of our family, and so are you. We should support each other, not push her away like you do. After all, her dad saved your life!” Noah couldn’t understand; he had given her. so many opportunities, yet Alice didn’t seem to appreciate them.
They were treating Chloe well to repay a debt of gratitude.
The living room fell silent, the heavy air making it hard for Alice to breathe. She clenched her fists, barely holding it together.
Damn it!
Alice’s voice was tinged with mockery.“Noah, do you want me to give my life to Chloe for you to be satisfied?”

The readers' comments on the novel: Six Brothers Plea for Forgiveness (Alice)
This story is incomplete!!! You get us into the story then you leave us with a cliff hanger. Plus there's so many errors. It is obvious that English is second ( or 3rd) language. Author has mixed up names on several characters. Mixed up he/she , him/her. Made story too long by repetitive sentences. Made it look like the reader wasnt able to retain parts of the story by repeating certain aspects. I know authors do that but this author did it too often. This story lets you see what an eye for an eye would mean to some cultures. Needs MAJOR proof reading. Pro: great family drama. The one emotion you feel the most in this story is anger & discuss. There are a few funny (actually hilarious) parts in there. You want the good guy to win even though he may been at fault for something. You want justice for Alice and you want to see her independent from her brothers totally. I feel the author is on the right track but just needs to clean it up....
Except Alice's and Jack's names, all other names are mixed. And why there is LUKE'S FATHER instead of EATHEN...
I want yo ask that wht Alice's surname is keep on changing from Wolsh to Windham to Lu???? And Andrew to Garett? And Jane's name to Chloe as well...
