She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 654

Rowan replied smoothly, "He was just a little insecure waking up alone. A couple of whimpers and he's already settled."

Delilah stood up from the bed, smiling as she checked on the baby. "He really is fast asleep again."

"I'm done eating. Put Pip next to me." Lyra reached out, patting the empty space on the mattress beside her, her eyes shining with eager anticipation.

Rowan gently laid the baby on the mattress. The moment he was set down, Pip's tiny hands flailed out and his little legs gave a soft kick. Rowan quickly patted him to soothe him. Once the soft, squishy newborn was soundly asleep, Rowan reached out to pick Lyra up.

Lyra gasped. "What are you doing?"

Delilah and Kayla paused in surprise.

Rowan said coolly, "Time to brush your teeth now that you're done eating. No slacking."

On the way back, Caleb drove Delilah and Kayla. The car pulled smoothly out of Blackwood Manor. Caleb kept his eyes fixed on the road, his hands gripped loosely on the steering wheel. The cabin was quiet for a moment before Delilah finally spoke.

"Rowan is incredibly attentive to his wife and child. Lyra is still weak from the C-section, and he thinks of absolutely everything for her. He even watches over little things like making sure she brushes her teeth after a meal. He truly loves your sister from the bottom of his heart."

Delilah looked completely relieved. "I used to be so worried, constantly terrified that Lyra would be mistreated in the Jameson family. Now I see I was just overthinking."

Kayla nodded from the passenger seat. "Rowan might seem cold and unapproachable on the outside, but when it comes to family, he clearly prefers a hands-on approach."

Delilah sighed, her tone shifting to slight concern. "It's just that Lyra always seems so weighed down by something. When I told her to cherish what she has now, she just smiled and didn't say a word. I get the feeling she's suppressing something inside."

Caleb tapped his fingers against the steering wheel. "Don't let Rowan's cold exterior fool you. When it comes to sweet-talking, he's full of calculated charm. Don't buy into the illusion that he's a perfect gentleman. But as for Lyra, you don't need to worry. She won't be able to escape him anyway."

Delilah frowned. "Stop saying such awful things. Escape what? The Jameson family is one of the most prestigious, wealthy households in the country—why would she need to escape? Your sister is probably just dealing with postpartum sensitivity. Once she's fully recovered and watches her baby grow day by day, she'll naturally settle down."

Caleb didn't argue further, though he silently tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He had already made up his mind: the moment his sister suffered even the slightest grievance, the Fairchild family would always be her ultimate safety net.

The group returned to the Fairchild estate. The moment the car parked in the courtyard, two tiny figures came stumbling out of the entryway. The twins had just learned how to walk, their little legs carrying them forward in a wobbly, frantic sprint as they called out for their mother in sweet, high-pitched voices.

Lyra asked, "Is someone running a smear campaign?"

"There's an instigator, but it's nothing that requires my direct intervention." Rowan looked down at the tiny baby on the bed.

Pip's tiny fists were clenched tight as he slept, completely lost in dreamland. His little brows would furrow for a second, then immediately smooth out. One moment his lips would pout as if he were about to cry, and the next, the corners of his mouth would curl up into an adorable, heart-melting smile.

"Look at him, Lyra," Rowan murmured. "Even in his sleep, he's busy. Smiling one second, crying the next."

Lyra's gaze softened drastically as she watched Pip.

Just then, Grandpa Alistair walked in with a warm chuckle, catching the end of their conversation. "The Dream Weaver is teaching the little guy how the world works."

"The Dream Weaver?" Rowan's eyes darkened slightly. "Let's hope they're good dreams."
