She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 447

By the time Lyra looked up again, Jasmine was nowhere to be seen.

Lyra rushed Andrea to the hospital. Aside from the scraped arm, her ankle was badly bruised.

Still reeling from the shock and thoroughly terrified, Lyra insisted on a full check-up, even though Andrea brushed it off as a minor injury. Lyra paid the hospital fees upfront and forced her to get admitted.

After taking X-rays, the trauma doctor cleaned and bandaged the wounds.

Once everything was settled, Lyra sat by the hospital bed, frowning deeply. "Haven't you called your family? Why hasn't anyone come to check on you?"

Andrea's voice was calm. "I just have a younger brother. He's at boarding school. I didn't want to distract him, so I didn't mention I got hurt."

Lyra asked softly, "How did you end up becoming a bodyguard?"

"My dad ran a martial arts studio," Andrea replied. "I trained with him since I was a kid. After he died, the studio closed. I dropped out of school to support my brother, so I fell into this line of work."

A lump formed in Lyra's throat, and her eyes grew red. She had naturally pale skin, making the redness around her eyes even more pronounced.

Seeing her eyes shimmer with unshed tears, Andrea quickly tried to comfort her. "Miss Fairchild, please don't cry."

Lyra was consumed by guilt. "Why? You used to protect Jasmine and nothing ever happened, but the second you protect me, you get hurt... Am I just a jinx who brings disaster to everyone around me?"

Andrea shook her head firmly. "I have never protected Jasmine."

Lyra choked back a sob, temporarily stunned.

...Right. She had mixed up her timelines.

Just then, two sets of sharp, decisive footsteps echoed outside the room.

Wesley Wade pushed the door open, followed closely by Rowan. He looked imposing and aristocratic in a perfectly tailored black suit, but his dark, narrowed eyes were icy. The moment he stepped inside, his gaze locked onto Lyra's tear-stained face.

Lyra glanced at the door once.

Then, acting as if Rowan were completely invisible, she turned her attention back to the patient.

He closed the distance with a few long strides. His large hand clamped down on her wrist, his grip heavy and commanding. Without a word, he dragged her away from the elevators and pushed her into the dimly lit stairwell.

The shadows caught the harsh angles of his face, making him look terrifyingly cold.

"Did you think buying that plot of land gave you the right to challenge me?"

The sheer force of his presence was suffocating.

Lyra turned her head away, refusing to meet his eyes. Her tone was completely flat. "Whether I have the right or not, Andrea got hurt because of Jasmine. Your top priority right now should be getting Jasmine out of Seaborne City."

Rowan stared down at her stubborn profile, his dark eyes freezing over. "And exactly what position do you hold to be giving me orders?"

In the past, she might have scrambled to justify herself.

But this time, Lyra wasn't falling into his trap. She let out a cold, hollow laugh. "Listen to me or don't. At the end of the day, Jasmine is your favorite. That's why you can't bear to kick her out of the city. She nearly killed your own employee, and you still refuse to touch her..."
