She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 312

On the drive to the Jameson estate, an unknown number called.

Lyra answered the call.

It was Lucas Chavez. "You have to come to my engagement party. If you don't show up, I'll postpone it indefinitely."

"Whatever," Lyra replied. "I don't care if you get engaged or not."

She frowned and hung up.

Her car pulled up smoothly outside the Jameson mansion. She stepped out and silently followed the butler inside.

As they walked through the long, winding covered corridor, a cool breeze swept past.

In a daze, a soft, subtle woman's voice inexplicably echoed in her ears.

The Fairchild Princess, I envy you so much...

She thought back to Eliza Reed.

Lyra paused. Looking back, Eliza had probably envied the privileged background and bright future she had been born into.

She seemed to have said something else, too. A question, perhaps...

She subconsciously pressed a hand to her temple, her face pale. She couldn't remember what it was.

"Miss Fairchild, are you alright? You don't look well," the butler asked, seeing her lean against a pillar. "Are you feeling sick?"

Lyra shook her head. "Let's keep going."

Victoria was already waiting in the living room.

Seeing Lyra walk in, she immediately flashed a warm, affectionate smile and said softly, "Lyra, it's been so long since you've come to visit me. You've grown even more beautiful since I last saw you. Come, sit down and let's chat."

Lyra walked over slowly and took a seat in silence. "Victoria."

After a few pleasantries, Victoria got straight to the point. "How is your consideration going regarding you and Caspian?"

"I only see him as a younger friend. I've never had feelings for him," Lyra said.

She had assumed Eliza meant Caspian when she said she liked younger guys. Lyra had completely forgotten that Rowan had skipped several grades. Even though he was already in college like Eliza at the time, he was still a few years younger than the tutor. In that context, Rowan was the 'younger guy.'

Lyra finally understood why Caspian had poisoned her in their past life.

It turned out that she had unwittingly meddled and caused the death of an innocent girl.

"Lyra..."

Victoria could see how pale and exhausted she looked, her brows furrowing with genuine concern as she asked softly,

"Why do you look so awful? Are you feeling unwell?"

Just then, Zola brought over a serving of peach pudding. Victoria said, "Lyra, eat a little. No matter what happens between you and Caspian, I've watched you grow up. I will always care for you..."

Memories of the despair from her past life rushed back into her mind—wasting away day by day, enduring endless torment, and finally meeting a tragic end.

She didn't dare touch any food from the Jameson family ever again.
