She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 32

"Yes, Boss." Dylan quickly accelerated back to a normal speed, though his eyes kept darting back toward the property. Finally, unable to hold it in, he asked, "Boss, I don't think I was seeing things. When we drove past Jadecrest Villas just now, I saw the lights on the second floor."

The man in the back seat slowly opened his eyes but remained silent.

Dylan pressed on, "Did someone move in?" His eyes widened. "Wait, Boss, isn't that the house you gave Hulda back when—"

"Dylan," the elegant man finally interrupted, his voice feather-light.

Hearing his employer's tone, Dylan felt a shiver run down his spine. "Yes, Sir!"

Caspian frowned. "Since when did you become so talkative?"

Sweat beaded on Dylan's forehead, his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter. "Shutting up now. Completely zipping it."

...

Herbert's stress levels were significantly lower today. Not long ago, he had received solid confirmation from Dr. Lowe that the developer of the Quantum Crystal Oscillator Gyroscope would be reporting to the institute's R&D center next week. If all went well, he would have the chance to meet the elusive genius in person.

That would instantly resolve the crisis his company was currently facing.

Because of this, Herbert was in high spirits. Right before leaving the office, he deliberately returned a call to a downstream supplier he had ignored earlier in the day.

After wrapping up their business discussion, the supplier eagerly tried to flatter him. "Mr. Jewell, my son goes to the same school as yours. I just saw the photo your boy posted on his social media today. 'Me and my favorite mom.' He's such a cute kid."

"Thank you," Herbert replied politely, fully aware the man was just kissing up to him.

Still, he was quite pleased to hear the news.
