"You can't even find her through the National Go Association's internal records?" Herbert asked, unwilling to give up.

Wade shook his head again. "No. All her data inside the association has been completely wiped. It's impossible to track her down."

Herbert fell into deep thought. For a player to vanish completely, eluding even his father, and have her internal files erased meant one of two things. Either they hired a hacker to breach the system and delete everything, or her background was powerful enough to reach deep into the association itself.

Either way, finding her was going to be an uphill battle.

"Why are you all standing in the doorway?" Cora walked over, carrying a sleeping Miles.

Her sudden interruption completely shattered the tense atmosphere.

"Why did you bring him out here? He's asleep! Get him back to his room before he catches a cold," Valery scolded in a hushed tone.

Terrified of letting the boy get sick, Cora quickly murmured an apology and hurried him back to the bedroom.

Not completely trusting her daughter, Valery followed them.

That left only the father and son in the foyer.

"It's late. Where are you going?" Wade asked.

"Back to the office."

Wade knew his son's company had hit a rough patch recently. "Still no progress on that navigation component issue?"

Herbert's worried frown smoothed out, looking much brighter. "Actually, yes. Dr. Brandon Lowe managed to contact the founder of the Quantum Crystal Laboratory. She agreed to return to the institute as the director of the research center. Once the new director starts, I should get an answer."
