She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 118

The way the employees looked at Herbert and Sylvie shifted, their eyes darting away awkwardly.

It was true, now that they thought about it. Mr. Jewell brought Ms. Sinclair to literally every event, yet no one had ever laid eyes on his actual wife.

Even today, at a resort retreat where staff were explicitly encouraged to bring their spouses, he had left his wife at home and paraded around with Ms. Sinclair.

To an outsider, it was an incredibly easy—and damning—assumption to make.

"Mr. Sterling, what exactly are you implying? She and I—" Herbert started, desperate to salvage his dignity.

Caspian cut him off with a raised hand. "You don't need to explain anything to me. We don't know each other. Save your breath for your wife." He paused, a cruel smirk touching his lips. "Assuming you still have the chance."

With that, the billionaire turned and strolled lazily toward the elevators, his long legs eating up the distance.

Dylan shot Herbert a look of absolute pity and disgust before scurrying after his boss like a loyal lapdog.

Herbert's face was a mask of sheer fury. He wanted nothing more than to storm over, grab Caspian by the collar, and demand to know what his problem was. If they didn't know each other, why humiliate him so publicly?

Did being a billionaire's heir give him a free pass to treat people like dirt?

"Mr. Jewell..." Sylvie tugged at his sleeve, her face still pale. "Let's just check in."

She was boiling with humiliation, but this was Caspian Sterling. They were less than insects to him.

Making a scene would only end in her being further degraded.

Herbert glanced back at his whispering employees. He swallowed his rage, took a deep breath, and walked rigidly toward the reception desk with Sylvie in tow.

...

Meanwhile, completely oblivious to the drama downstairs, Hulda and Abby walked into their room.

The moment the door clicked open, they were met with a massive, floor-to-ceiling glass wall showcasing a jaw-dropping, panoramic view of the sparkling ocean.

Even Abby, who had been grumbling moments ago, gasped. "Wow! This is incredible!"
