Before Melanie could even respond, Minister Lilian Halevy shot Thorne a sharp look. He immediately pressed his lips together, realizing he had spoken out of turn.
Melanie, however, wasn't bothered in the slightest.
"The packaging is a perfect fake, but the pills themselves... are different."
She pulled a tablet from her own bottle and held it up against the one Dominic had provided.
"Most supplements on the market only put their anti-counterfeit markers on the outer packaging. But the Royce Group does things differently..."
At this point, Melanie instinctively glanced over at Preston.
"We developed and manufactured this product in collaboration with Stellaris PharmaTech. Using their proprietary technology, we placed an anti-counterfeit measure on every single pill."
The moment those words left her mouth, all the color drained from Dominic's face.
Melanie held up the genuine pill, turning it on its side for everyone to see.
"Along the edge of every authentic tablet is a line of Micro-Laser Sequential Coding. The font is microscopic—barely visible to the naked eye, but easily picked up by a smartphone's macro lens. This code is tied to a specific algorithm generated by the production date and batch number, meaning the format changes with every run."
She then picked up Dominic's pill and turned it to the exact same angle.
"Obviously, this one doesn't have it."
At that moment, Dominic wasn't the only one whose expression shifted wildly.
Holden's face was tightening as well.
"The Micro-Laser Sequential Coding on the authentic pills matches the production logs tied to the box's batch number. The characters on the side of the genuine pill directly correspond to the box ID. Even if two boxes share a batch number, the pill coding is locked into a fixed sequence during the pressing stage. Your pills have absolutely no coding on them. If these had actually come off a Royce Group assembly line, that would be physically impossible."
An eerie, suffocating silence fell over the lobby. Even the patients—who had been so fiercely demanding answers for their illnesses just moments ago—simultaneously realized the truth.
The Royce Group wasn't to blame.
They were being framed.
"It seems this was all just a terrible misunderstanding."
The one who finally broke the silence was Vice Director Thorne.
