But why would Derek's boss issue such an outrageously absurd order?!
When had he ever offended the man?
Dominic shook his head.
It didn't make any sense!
He hadn't even met the boss of Fortis Power & Cable before.
"VP Hale, my boss really did order me to have you slap yourself a hundred times. I'm just a working man following orders. If you're not willing, you can leave."
With that, Derek picked up the contract and handed it back to Dominic.
His face flushed with rage, Dominic snatched the contract and stormed out in a huff.
Derek let out a long sigh of relief.
It was better that Dominic had left.
He had no desire to invite this kind of bizarre hostility upon himself.
He couldn't figure out what had gotten into his boss either. It was clearly a targeted attack against Dominic.
But as far as he knew, Dominic had never even crossed paths with his boss!
"Who on earth did he piss off?"
Derek muttered to himself.
Less than five minutes after storming out, Dominic walked right back in.
At the Lockridge Group headquarters.
Gavin Lockridge, having heard that Dominic secured the massive contract with Fortis Power & Cable, was currently reporting to his grandfather.
"Now Grandpa is going to call me useless again..."
Gavin couldn't help but sigh heavily.
Just then, Dominic walked out of Holden's office.
Their eyes met, and Gavin jolted in shock.
"Dominic, what... what happened to your face?"
Gavin instinctively reached out, but Dominic swatted his hand away before he could make contact.
"It's nothing, just an allergic reaction."
Dominic's tone was icy, clearly seething over something.
"An allergy..."
Gavin looked skeptical.
Dominic's face was so swollen it looked like a puffed-up balloon. Gavin barely recognized him at first.
Studying Dominic's face and expression, Gavin felt it looked less like an allergy and more like he had been severely beaten.
