She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 861

Bryant didn't immediately grasp the severity of her words. He glanced up at the air conditioning vent. The restaurant catered specifically to young children, so the AC was always kept at a mild setting. The booth didn't feel cold at all.

"You're feeling cold, sweetheart?" Bryant asked gently.

His tone caught the attention of Melanie and Preston. Melanie immediately stood up, walked over, and pressed her hand against Elina's forehead.

It was burning hot.

"She's running a high fever," Melanie said, her voice laced with alarm.

Elina's face was deeply flushed, her eyes glassy and unfocused as she drifted in and out of a stupor.

Bryant was stunned. "A fever? How did that happen so fast? She was perfectly fine just a minute ago." He looked closely at his daughter, realizing just how terrible she looked.

"Melanie," Preston called out sharply, his voice slicing through the panic. He raised a gloved finger, pointing directly at Elina.

Melanie and Bryant both looked down, their eyes widening in shock.

In the short span of time they had been talking, a rash had erupted across Elina's skin. Bright, furious red spots dotted her face and arms, multiplying at a terrifying, visible rate.

Elina shivered uncontrollably, feeling miserable but unable to understand why her dad and Melanie were staring at her with such horrified expressions.

"Daddy... Aunt Melanie... what's wrong with me?"

"We need to get you to a hospital right now," Melanie stated. She threw cash on the table to cover the bill and ordered Bryant to pick up Elina.

The celebratory dinner was abandoned halfway through. The four of them rushed to the nearest hospital. It wasn't a large medical center, but it was close. Bryant figured it was just a severe, acute flu that any standard clinic could handle.
