At the Eclipse Noir Club. Third floor. Daphne Morrell's bedroom.
Everett Kingsley was a nervous wreck, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. He knew that discussing their one-night stand had to happen in private, far away from the club's chaotic main floor, but sitting in Daphne's bedroom only amplified the memory of his reckless actions. He had been completely wasted that night, blacking out and losing most of his memories by the morning. But that didn't mean he had forgotten everything. As his hangover had faded, disjointed flashes of what they had done rushed back with startling clarity. Being in the exact room where it happened made it impossible to ignore.
Daphne sat across from him, watching his face turn an increasingly deep shade of crimson. She glanced at the air conditioning unit. It was on, and the room was perfectly cool. She had no idea why he was blushing like a schoolboy. Everett was the one who had asked to see her today. He had claimed he had something crucial to say, but for the past ten minutes, he had just been sitting there like a statue, completely silent.
"Since you're not going to talk, I will," Daphne snapped, shattering the agonizing silence.
Everett nodded stiffly. "R-Right."
Daphne rolled up her sleeves. "Do you know how badly I want to punch you right now?"
All the color drained from Everett's face. He ducked his head, looking utterly ashamed. Daphne wasn't joking. She looked ready to swing.
"I... I did something terrible to you," he stammered, his voice trembling. "If you want to hit me... I deserve it."
Hearing his broken apology, Daphne reached across the table and grabbed him by the collar, forcing him to look her in the eye. "So you finally realize you crossed the line?"
