She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 848

By the time they arrived back in Averin, dawn was just beginning to break.

When Melanie woke up, the car was already parked outside her apartment building.

"Thanks for the hard work, Preston."

After saying that, Melanie tried to get out of the car, only to have her wrist suddenly caught by Preston.

Even through the fabric of his glove, she could practically feel the intense heat radiating from his palm.

"What's wrong?"

Melanie was thoroughly confused.

She had the distinct feeling he was angry about something.

But she couldn't fathom what he had to be upset over.

"You seemed to have a great time... chatting it up with Bryant at the party."

Melanie froze for a second before bursting into an exasperated laugh.

"What? Don't tell me you're jealous?"

"Am I not allowed to be jealous?"

Preston fired back, his expression dead serious.

Melanie shrugged with a grin.

"Please, Mr. Whitmore, I am not your girlfriend anymore. Who I enjoy talking to is entirely my business. You can be as jealous or as sulky as you want, just leave me out of it, thanks."

After delivering her firm response, Melanie forcefully yanked her hand out of his grip.

She stepped out of the car, and Preston followed.

She walked into the building, and Preston shadowed her every step.

Truthfully, Preston knew deep down that his jealousy over Bryant was completely irrational.

It was painfully obvious that Bryant no longer harbored the romantic feelings he once had for Melanie.

Bryant merely saw her as a regular friend now.

And Melanie felt the exact same way.

Yet, despite knowing this crystal clear, watching Melanie talk so animatedly with Bryant about pharmaceuticals still left a bitter taste in Preston's mouth.

His possessiveness over her...

Had only grown stronger with each passing day since four years ago.
