She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 846

"I see Elina has become much more positive and cheerful."

Hearing Melanie's observation, Bryant nodded, looking at her with a gaze brimming with gratitude.

"Elina is doing so well today entirely because of the guidance you gave her."

"No, no, no..."

Melanie quickly waved her hands in denial.

Bryant's words were far too formal, making it sound like she had done him some monumental favor.

"Elina is an exceptional kid on her own. I didn't really do much."

"You're being too modest, Melanie. You have no idea how much you've influenced her. She says she wants to run a pharma company just like you when she grows up."

"That's actually wonderful. I'd gladly welcome her to the industry."

"She also said if you were her mother, she'd turn out even better."

"Well..."

Melanie's expression turned intensely awkward.

She remembered hearing Elina say something very similar in the past.

"Watch your words, Mr. Lennox."

Preston's heavy, warning voice suddenly cut through the air.

Bryant mockingly covered his own mouth.

"Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it... But..."

He trailed off, lowering his voice to a whisper as he asked Melanie:

"Didn't you two break up! So where exactly does he get off acting like your possessive boyfriend?"

Even though Bryant kept his voice hushed, Preston still caught every word.

"Because I am Melanie's assistant, and what you just said, Mr. Lennox, could easily be construed as sexual harassment toward my boss."

Feeling like he had just been slammed with an absurd accusation out of nowhere, Bryant immediately shot Melanie a desperate look for help.

"Melanie, I absolutely did not mean it like that! That was all Elina talking."

Seeing that Bryant was genuinely panicking about being misunderstood, Melanie soothed him while giving Preston a sharp jab in the ribs with her elbow.

"As my assistant, could you please stop terrifying my friends?"
