She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 832

"So if the boss wants a drink, are you going to let her?"

Melanie crossed her arms, fixing Preston with a challenging stare.

Preston casually handed her a bottle of Vitasphere Protein Shake.

"Drink this."

Melanie's eye twitched.

Everyone in the room knew Preston was Melanie's ex-boyfriend.

Even the newly integrated staff from the fertilizer plants had quickly caught up on the gossip.

"Are we sure he's an ex and not a current boyfriend?"

"They're basically flirting out in the open..."

"Ugh... I wish I had a gorgeous guy doting on me like that."

"Keep dreaming! Do you have Ms. Royce's brains? Do you have any idea how much money she just made the company today?"

"I know she's incredible... but if I can't land a guy as hot as him, I'd settle for someone as rich as Mr. Whitmore!"

"In your dreams. Didn't you hear? Vice President Whitmore is pursuing Ms. Royce too!"

"That explains it... his eyes have been glued to her all night."

"Honestly, it must be tough for her. One is incredibly wealthy and powerful, the other is devastatingly handsome... That's a hard choice."

"What's hard about it? She'll obviously pick the rich one!"

"Then what about Preston? Just toss him aside?"

"She already tossed him aside!"

Two female employees gossiped loudly, leaning their heads together in what was supposedly a whisper, but the volume ensured Melanie heard every single word.

"Even if they broke up, just because he doesn't qualify as a boyfriend doesn't mean he can't be a toy boy! A woman as successful as Ms. Royce can totally date the VP and keep a few gorgeous men on the side. What's the harm?"

Listening to the wild rumors, Melanie rubbed her temples and grumbled to Preston.

"This is your fault. My reputation is ruined."

"Should I punish myself with three shots, then?"

Just before the rim of his glass touched his lips, Melanie reached out and clamped her hand over his mouth.

He was a menace.

Melanie snatched the glass from his hand and shoved the Vitasphere Protein Shake against his chest.

Preston let out a soft, helpless laugh.

Nearby, Everett tipped his head back and downed his drink in one fiery gulp.

The liquor burned a harsh trail down his throat.

He hadn't taken his eyes off Melanie all night.

And she hadn't looked his way once.

Everett poured himself another glass.

He felt an agonizing certainty settling in his chest...

She still loved Preston.

"If she still loves him... why did they break up? Was it really just about the money... Heh..."

Everett let out a bitter, self-deprecating laugh.
