Although Holden wore a faint smile and looked like a kindly grandfather, he was the undisputed ruler of the Lockridge Group. His aura commanded absolute authority.
Dominic felt a spike of anxiety.
He had no idea if Holden had summoned him to reprimand him for the covert buyout of Apex Organics' fertilizer.
However, even if Holden was angry...
Technically, it had nothing to do with him.
After all, the signature on the contract belonged to Gavin Lockridge.
Since he had perfectly set up a scapegoat from the very beginning, Dominic felt there was no real reason to panic.
Still, for now, he needed to test the waters and figure out Holden's stance before throwing Gavin under the bus.
"Grandfather, our health division did indeed purchase that batch of Type-L Bio-Fertilizer..."
Dominic deliberately used the phrasing "our health division" rather than "I."
He was subtly sending Holden a message—
The buyout was a strategic corporate move by the health division, not a personal vendetta.
Even if Gavin was a reckless spender, he was technically still the head of that division.
Yet Dominic didn't explicitly name Gavin either. If Holden actually praised the move, Dominic could smoothly steal the credit.
"Hm..."
Holden hummed thoughtfully, dragging out the sound.
"So the health division bought out the fertilizer... Why? No department in our entire conglomerate has any use for agricultural supplies. Furthermore, this was an exclusive buyout. I heard that new owner was fishing for investors—including the Royce Group—and aggressively demanding a premium for exclusive rights. So... we must have spent a fortune on this, didn't we?"
Dominic's polite smile stiffened.
Dominic took a step forward, deliberately lowering his voice into a conspiratorial tone.
"Grandfather, you must have heard the rumors that the Royce Group is partnering with Stellaris PharmaTech to launch a revolutionary new blood-sugar-regulating supplement."
"Yes, I'm aware," Holden nodded.
"The core ingredient for this new supplement is the Royce Group's Arctic Burdock Root. And the only reason they can cultivate roots of such high quality is their complete reliance on the Type-L Bio-Fertilizer."
"By buying out the market supply at a premium, we've guaranteed that the Royce Group can no longer grow roots that meet the required standards. Consequently, their joint venture with Stellaris PharmaTech will completely collapse."
"Grandfather, Lockridge Convalescent Home has always relied on selling premium-priced health supplements, hasn't it? Even though we don't distribute them on a massive commercial scale, selling them directly to our high-net-worth clients brings in phenomenal profit margins. If we just sat back and allowed the Royce Group and Stellaris to launch their product, it would definitely threaten our market share. Don't you agree my logic is sound?"
"Brilliant!"
Holden slammed his hand down on the desk in excitement.
"I knew I was right about you! Dominic, my boy, you're remarkable! You're leagues ahead of my useless, spendthrift grandson... The future of the Lockridge family rests entirely on your shoulders!"
