Thank god he made it.
If Dominic had actually managed to lay a hand on Melanie, Philip wouldn't have known how to explain it to Preston.
Melanie drove herself. Even with the GPS, it took her quite a while to locate the newly opened Aetheris Wellness Lounge.
The location was incredibly secluded—far too remote for legitimate foot traffic.
It seemed much better suited for covert, illicit transactions.
From the outside, the architecture was elegant and traditional, fitting the high-end wellness aesthetic perfectly.
Melanie walked in with her files and was quickly escorted by the receptionist into a lavish private suite.
The room was dripping with wealth, complete with an extravagant liquor cabinet and an artisan tea setup.
"You're late, Angel."
Melanie stiffened. She whipped her head around.
Lounging in a pristine white suit, his signature stark white hair practically glowing, was the man she least wanted to see.
"It's you..." Melanie's eyes narrowed.
She couldn't believe the owner of this holistic wellness center was Shawn Sterling.
Melanie frowned.
Shawn read her expression instantly. He knew she despised seeing him.
"Do you always look at your clients like they're the plague, Angel?" Shawn asked, stepping closer.
Melanie's defenses spiked, every instinct screaming at her to run.
If she had known the White-Haired Punk owned this place, she would never have accepted the meeting.
She wouldn't have even entertained the business proposal.
Shawn might have looked young, but his actions were terrifyingly unhinged.
She trusted her gut, and her gut was telling her to get as far away from him as possible.
Grabbing her documents, she stood up.
"Leaving so soon?" Shawn shoved a hand into his pocket and casually blocked the door.
It was a partnership contract between his lounge and the Royce Group.
"It looks standard. Average demands, but you're offering double the market price... What are you, a masochist?"
Shawn laughed, a bright, dangerous sound.
He walked over to the liquor cabinet, poured two glasses of whiskey over ice, and offered one to her.
"Here's to a very profitable partnership, Angel."
Melanie instinctively took the glass and took a tiny sip.
The aroma of the whiskey was strong.
A rich blend of fruit and oak, laced with a faint sweetness.
But underneath that, there was a strange, chemical coolness.
Her eyelashes fluttered.
Without missing a beat, she pulled a tissue from her purse and subtly dabbed her mouth.
