While Azriel and Elora navigated the responsibilities of leadership and their personal challenges, their son, Asher, thrived in his new environment. The Stormheart Pack quickly embraced the mischievous yet mature boy, charmed by his curiosity and vibrant energy. Each day was an adventure for Asher, who explored every corner of the pack ground with enthusiasm.
With his parents’ permission, Asher roamed freely, making friends with everyone he met. Within a week, he had familiarized himself with the territory and befriended many of the pack/members. Returning from school one afternoon, accompanied by his new friends, Asher’s attention was drawn to a house with sage-colored walls, tucked away at the edge of the pack’s territory.
“Who lives there?” he asked his friends, intrigued by the house he hadn’t noticed before.
One of the kids, lowering his voice to a whisper, replied, “We’re not allowed to go there. It’s by Alpha’s order.”
“Why?” Asher pressed, his curiosity piqued even further.
The children shook their heads, unable to provide an answer but reiterating the importance of following Alpha’s command.
The next morning, Asher’s mind lingered on the mysterious house. As he walked to school, he stole
another glance at it, resolving to investigate later. That afternoon, after bidding farewell to his
friends, he returned to the house, his determination unwavering.
Slipping behind the villa, Asher entered the back garden and was immediately captivated by the sight before him. A sea of beautiful flowers, vibrant and diverse, spread out like a scene from a
fairy tale. He wandered deeper into the garden, marvelling at the colours and scents.
Suddenly, a harsh voice shattered the tranquility. “Who’s there?”
Asher’s heart pounded as he quickly ducked behind a bush of roses, holding his breath. The owner of the voice stepped closer, and Asher’s pulse quickened as he tried to stay hidden.
“Show yourself,” the voice commanded, its tone unyielding. “I can smell you, so I will count till three before getting the chance to leave from here without consequences.”
Realizing he couldn’t stay hidden forever, Asher took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the roses. Standing before him was a woman who had a veil covering half of her face, her expression a mixture of suspicion, anger and curiosity.
“Who are you?” she asked, her eyes narrowing at the small intruder.
“I’m Asher,” he replied, trying to sound confident despite his racing heart.

The woman’s stern expression softened slightly. “Asher, you know you’re not supposed to be here. Why did you come?”
Asher said quickly. “I just wanted to see what was here. The flowers are beautiful.”
The woman studied him for a moment, then sighed. “Curiosity can be a good thing, but you must respect Alpha’s orders. This place is off-limits for a reason.”
Asher nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. “I’m sorry.”
The woman nodded, her demeanor gentler now. “I believe you. But you should go back to the main grounds. This place isn’t meant for visitors.”
Asher turned to leave but paused. “Who lives here? Who are you?” he asked softly.
The woman hesitated before answering. “Someone who prefers solitude. It’s best if you don’t disturb them. Now, leave!”
With a final nod, Asher made his way back to the main pack grounds, his mind swirling with thoughts. The mystery of the sage-walled house and its solitary occupant lingered in his mind, but he knew better than to push further for now.
The next day after school, Asher’s curiosity drove him back to the sage-walled house. Steeling himself, he approached the garden with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. As expected, the woman with the covered face and black hair emerged, her expression a mixture of annoyance and
concern.
“Why are you here again?” she demanded in a harsh voice. “I told you this place is off-limits. Leave
now!”
Asher, mustering his courage, looked up at her with wide, determined eyes. “I just want to know why. And…what’s your name?”
The woman’s eyes narrowed in frustration. Without another word, she turned and retreated into the house, slamming the door behind her. Asher stood there for a moment, feeling a mix of disappointment and defiance.
Till now, everyone was friendly with him, so why didn’t this woman want to speak with him?
