Sleepless Nights-1
For the past three days, Lora had been a shadow of her usual self. Ever since her night with Alpha Azriel, she’d felt on edge, agitated, and prone to snapping at everyone around her. The normally
kind and gentle doctor had become sharp and irritable seemingly overnight. Her colleagues that
were used to her easy-going personality were conflicted.
Mary’s concern deepened with each passing day as she observed Lora’s behavior. It was clear that something was deeply troubling her, and Mary couldn’t bear to see Lora suffering in silence. She
knew she had to intervene and offer her support.
Mary watched Lora carefully as they sat at the breakfast table, her concern growing with each passing moment. Lora’s usual bright demeanor had dimmed, replaced by an aura of agitation and tension. She pushed her food around on her plate, her appetite nonexistent and the black circles around her eyes spoke of her sleepless nights.
“What’s going on, Lora?” Mary asked, her tone gentle but firm.
Lora looked up, feigning a smile. “I’m okay, Mary. Just tired, that’s all.”
Mary wasn’t buying it. “Cut the bullshit, Lora,” she said, her voice tinged with frustration. “I can see that something’s not right. You’re on edge, snapping at everyone, and you look like you haven’t slept in days. Talk to me.”
Lora’s facade crumbled, and she let out a heavy sigh. “It’s… it’s just been a rough couple of days,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Mary reached across the table and took Lora’s hand in hers, offering her a reassuring squeeze. “You don’t have to go through this alone, Lora. What is bothering you?”
Lora smiled sadly in Mary’s direction, “Aside from the fact that a certain Alpha could take everything from me, I am just perfect.”
“Stop with the nonsense, Lora. As I told you, Azriel is not that heartless to leave his child without a mother.” Mary replied with conviction.
“Even if this mother is a rogue?” Lora asked.
“Look, I don’t know what you want me to say, but my instincts are telling me that there is more to
the story than that, so spill it,” Mary said while lying in a trap.
After a pause, Elora replied, “I have dreamed of Azriel every night since I met him.”
Mary, taken aback, asked “What do you mean? You have nightmares?”

“No, not nightmares. I just keep reliving our time together, which drives me crazy and fills me wan
frustration.”
“What exactly happens in these dreams?” Mary inquired, her concern growing.
Lora hesitated before revealing, “I keep remembering how Azriel kept telling me that I’m his, histo
cherish, his to protect. ‘You are mine, he’d say.”
Mary’s expression turned shocked, “You never mentioned this before,” she said quietly.
Lora shrugged, admitting, “I took it as part of our time together and didn’t think much about it at the time. But when we were together, he acted very … passionate”, Elora admitted, blushing, “…and very possessive. Even when I asked him to use protection, he said not to worry about it as I am his.
“What!!! You want to say that you didn’t use anything that night?” Mary asked her in a surprised voice. “Lora, you are a mature woman, a mother, and he is supposed to respect your wish.”
“I know, Mary, but I was like in a trance. I kept on telling him, but once he touched me it was like all my walls crumbled. I was so weak in front of him, Mary. He could have done anything, and I would not have objected, as he hypnotized me. I know it sounds stupid, but I can’t explain it. And now, I am worried, but also, I despise myself.” Lora told her with anguish.
“Why do you despise yourself?” Mary asked her with concern.
“Because it takes all my will not to go back to him!” Lora shouted as she started to cry hysterically. “I am going crazy Mary, and I don’t know what is going on. It is like a crazy craving inside me. He consumes my mind and my body! I feel exhausted and the only thing keeping me going are you and Asher. What is wrong with me?!”
