Frustration
In the days following her return, Lora found herself confined to a frustrating routine of rest and
recovery. Doctor Luigi had been adamant that she needed to stay in the hospital for two additional
days, despite her protests. Lora hated feeling idle, especially when there was so much to do within
the pack. But no matter how many times she tried to involve herself in pack matters, Azriel firmly
blocked her at every turn.
“You need to rest, Lora,” he would say, his voice steady but unwavering. “Spend time with the twins,
with Asher. That’s what’s most important right now.”
Though she understood his concern, it didn’t stop the mounting frustration. Every day, Azriel was gone from dawn until late at night, handling pack duties and taking care of the aftermath of the battle. She knew how dedicated he was to the pack, and she admired his strength, but it left her feeling useless and isolated.
Lora loved her sons deeply, and spending time with them brought her joy, but with every passing day, her mind began to race. What disturbed her most wasn’t just her forced inactivity, it was Azriel himself. Since she had returned, he had kept his distance from her in more ways than one.
At first, she brushed it off as a result of his exhaustion. After all, the entire pack was recovering from a brutal war, and Azriel had so much responsibility on his shoulders. But as the days turned into a week, the lack of intimacy between them became a sharp, nagging pain in her chest and her
body.
Azriel’s usual insatiable nature was nowhere to be found. Nights when he would usually pull her into his arms, whispering how much he needed her, were now replaced by quiet, distant evenings. He would kiss her forehead or hand before turning his back to her and falling asleep. His touches, once filled with fire and passion, were now cool and careful, as if he were afraid to touch her.
Lora tried to dismiss her worries, telling herself it was just his exhaustion. But with each passing day, the annoying feeling of doubt grew. Dark thoughts began to invade her mind.
Was it because of what had happened with the lycans? The forced touches, the torment, the violation of her body at their hands? The memory made her feel sick, but she tried to shove it off. Could Azriel have seen her differently now, tainted in some way? Was he disgusted by what had happened to her, after he felt the tingles of betrayal, even if it was not a voluntary one?
She didn’t want to believe it. She knew Azriel loved her, that he would never blame her for what the
lycans had done. But his behavior, his withdrawal from her, pushed her to confront the possibility.
She could no longer ignore the ache that built inside her, the fear that perhaps his distance was because he could no longer look at her, at her body in the same way.

Frustration
That night, after putting the twins to bed, Lora made up her mind. She would confront him. She’
couldn’t stand this situation between them any longer.
Azriel came home late again, his face exhausted but determined, as though he had been pushing
himself for hours on end. He kissed her forehead, as he always did, before heading toward their
bedroom. But this time, Lora didn’t let him slip away so easily.
“Azriel,” she called softly, her voice more fragile than she intended.
He paused, turning to look at her. “Yes, my dove?”
Lora could feel her pulse quicken. Her heart raced in her chest as she stood there, staring at him This was the man she had fought for, bled for, and almost died for. She needed to know the truth
no matter how much it hurt.
“We need to talk,” she said, her voice firm, though her nerves trembled beneath the surface.
Azriel frowned, his eyes softening with concern as he moved closer to her. “What’s wrong?” he asked, reaching out to touch her arm.
She pulled away from his touch. Not out of anger, but because it only deepened the growing
chasm between them.
“That’s exactly it, Azriel. What’s wrong?” Lora’s voice wavered, and she felt a lump form in her throat. “Since I came back… you haven’t touched me. You barely look at me anymore. I feel like
you’re avoiding me.”
Azriel’s expression turned pained, as if he had been struck. He opened his mouth to speak, but Lora cut him off, her emotions rushing out all at once.
“Is it because of what happened with the lycans?” she asked, her voice cracking. “Do you… blame me? Do you think I’m-” She couldn’t finish the thought, her throat tightening around the words.
Azriel’s eyes widened in shock, and he stepped forward, his hands grabbing her shoulders gently
but firmly. “Lora, no. Moon Goddess, no. I could never-”
“Then why?” she interrupted, her voice breaking. “Why are you keeping me at arm’s length? Why are
you acting like I’m someone else?”
Lora tried to keep her voice steady, to be strong, but the flood of emotions overwhelmed her. Despite her efforts, hot tears began to flow down her cheeks. She couldn’t stop them, nor could she stop the hurt that had been building inside her since Azriel had begun pulling away. Finally, the
words she had been dreading saying tumbled from her lips, her voice barely above a whisper, yet
charged with pain.
“Do you think I cheated on you, Azriel?” she asked, her voice breaking with anguish. She wiped her

tears with the back of her hand but couldn’t keep her eyes from searching his face for any sign of
doubt. “I know you felt the pain of betrayal through our bond. I could feel it too… the ache, the torment. Is that why you’ve been avoiding me?”
Azriel’s face contorted with raw emotion, a mixture of pain and guilt flashing in his eyes. He closed his eyes for a moment, as if trying to compose himself, before looking back at her, his gaze full of sorrow. “Lora, no,” he said, his voice hoarse. “I would never believe that. Of course not.”
His words should have been a comfort, but they weren’t enough. Lora’s heart still ached with the distance that had grown between them. The tears continued to fall, and her voice rose, laced with frustration and hurt. “Then what is the problem, Azriel? Why won’t you touch me? Why are you keeping me at arm’s length?” Her voice trembled, her desperation laid bare. “Do you not find me
desirable anymore?”
Azriel’s eyes widened, his face crumpling in pain. He stepped forward, reaching out for her, his hands hovering just shy of touching her face. “Oh, my dove, you have no idea,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “You have no idea how much I want you. How much I need you? Every day, every moment, I ache for you.”
His words were filled with passion, but Lora’s heart pounded with frustration. “Then why?” she demanded, her voice rising with rage and.confusion. “Why are you keeping me at a distance? If you want me, if you need me, why won’t you touch me? Why are you pushing me away each time I try to be intimate with you?”
