Dark Shadow-2

He paused, glancing down at the two tiny faces nestled against him, then looked back up at the crowd. “It is with great pride that I introduce you all to my sons, Mako Storm and Tayo Storm. They are the future of our pack, and with them and their eldest brother, Asher, the legacy of the Storm family will continue. I have no doubt that they will grow to be strong, wise, and just leaders.”

The crowd erupted in applause, cheers ringing out as the names of the twins were officially announced. Lora stood beside Azriel, her eyes filled with tears of happiness as she watched the community embrace their sons.

Kaia, still holding Mako, stepped forward to stand beside her brother, smiling as she gently kissed the top of Mako’s head. “These boys will have the love and support of their family and their pack, she said, her voice filled with conviction. “And they will always have the protection of their aunt and

uncle, the King and Queen.”

Markus joined her, placing a protective hand on her shoulder as he addressed the gathering. “The birth of these twins is a reminder of the strength of our people. We are a family, bound by blood, loyalty, and the will of the Moon Goddess. Let us continue to stand together, for the future of our packs, and for the future of our world.”

The celebration continued long into the night, with music, dancing, and laughter filling the air. The twins, Mako and Tayo, were passed from one loving set of arms to another, each pack member and guest taking a moment to welcome them into the world. Azriel and Lora, surrounded by friends and family, felt a deep sense of peace and fulfillment.

As the night began to wind down, Azriel found himself once again standing on the balcony of the

pack house, looking out over the land that he had sworn to protect. Lora joined him, leaning into

his side as she held one of the twins close to her chest.

“They’re going to be great leaders one day,” Lora whispered, her voice full of hope.

Azriel nodded, his gaze fixed on the horizon. “Yes, they will. But until then, we’ll do everything we

can to guide them, protect them, and prepare them for the future.”

Lora smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. “And we’ll do it together, as a family.”

Azriel turned to look at her, his heart swelling with love and gratitude. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner, Lora. Our sons are lucky to have you as their mother.”

“And they’re lucky to have you as their father, Lora replied, her voice soft and full of emotion.

A few hours after the party ended, the soft glow of the moonlight filtered through the curtains as Lora stirred from her sleep. The house was quiet, the celebrations long over, and the pack

members settled into their homes. But something had awakened her, a gentle stirring in the / nursery where her twins slept. Her motherly instincts were sharp, and without hesitation, she pushed herself up from the bed, careful not to disturb Azriel, who was still deep asleep beside her.

The house was still as she made her way down the hall, the cool wooden floorboards creaking softly under her bare feet. She rubbed the last remnants of sleep from her eyes, her thoughts focused on her boys. As she approached the nursery, she spoke in a gentle, soothing voice, “It’s okay, sweetie. Mommy’s here. I’ll feed you now. Don’t wake your brother.”

But as she stepped into the nursery, something felt off. The usual warmth of the room was

replaced by a chilling stillness that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Lora blinked trying to clear her vision, and her heart dropped as she noticed a shadowy figure looming over one of the cribs.

For a split second, she froze, her breath catching in her throat. Fear gripped her as she realized

someone was in the room with her sons. Her mind raced, every instinct screaming at her to protect her children, to call out for Azriel, but before she could react, the figure moved with inhuman speed.

Lora’s eyes widened as she saw the glint of something metallic in the shadow’s hand. She tried to

scream, to call out for help, but a sharp sting pierced her neck. The world around her spun as a

cold, numbing sensation spread through her veins. Her legs gave out, and she fell to the floor, her

vision blurring.

In those final moments before everything went dark, Lora’s only thought was of her sons. The faces of Mako and Tayo flashed before her eyes, and with a desperate burst of energy, she tried to crawl toward the crib, her hand outstretched. But the darkness was too overwhelming. The last thing she saw before losing consciousness was the shadowy figure bending over her, its eyes glowing eerily in the dim light.

Then, everything went black.
